We aren't nailed on for the top half, at least not yet...there are five teams within nine points of us, which is a sizable but not insurmountable gap, especially if our now comically small (relative to other PL sides) squad has any more injuries.

My biggest fear is that drifting sideways into the end of the season with a patchwork squad wouldn't exactly send the message to prospective additions that we mean business. To sign quality players, we need to be sure that we can appeal to quality players.


Edit: €20m!? That's a healthy buy option.

 

Are we sure "accept" is the right word? If this transfer is going to happen I'd imagine we'd be further along than that.

 

Being reported that United have just had a 30m euro bid for Toni Kroos accepted.

Then they'd just have to sort the piss poor defence out.

Could be all but complete, with the small matter of the fee not yet agreed. Who knows. €20m sounds like a lot. I don't expect they will take up that offer, unless he has an incredible few months.

 

I don't think that'd get the balance of their midfield right. They need someone like Vidal, though probably not Vidal as he'd probably turn them down anyway.

I'd love to see some of our mongs try to pronounce that.

 

Gallagher had 1 shot blocked, one shot saved and an effort that he would probably score more times than not. Cannot remember when Rickie had 3 chances in a game, let alone against the top team with the best defence in the league. Also he chased down quicker that Rickie and was playing off the shoulder of the last defender and we missed afew chances of playing him through (probably as our players are not used to looking for this pass, which is strangly probably Rickies biggest strength at this moment in time. Would say he was more than average, would have given him a solid B

 

$20m for Osvaldo includes bonuses. Don't know the starting fee.

 

They're under no obligation to pay that much anyway, so if we're not getting anything up front we've been had.

 

One of the things I liked was that Gallagher worked himself some chances too, he wasn't entirely reliant on being perfectly teed up.

Keen to see more though, we've only seen an hour of him in the first eleven.
