Still a bit gutted that we did not try for Ince.
Especially with Osvaldo situation up in the air and Ramirez out
Would have given us a quick option on the wing and allowed Jay to have a go up front.
Allows him to hold out till the end of his contract and gives us cover until the summer.

 

If the team can't work with him...good riddance, though I hate bad behaviour to be rewarded. However, best to move on.

 

Mauricio looked like he was teasing the press, so I assume that whatever happens, it hasn't made him unhappy.

 

Yeah that's the thing I don't really get. His cheeky smiles and winks and complete lack of (the usually quite obvious) mild irritation, all point to a signing, and a good one, but his words point to no-one coming.

In a way I hope so, it's far preferable to pissing off the fans.

Assuming that Osvaldo does indeed go, then I'd like to see us replace him tomorrow, but I also wouldn't be fussed if we didn't. Of course I get people's point that we'd be very short on numbers - we already are - but at the end of the day we're pretty much in a league by ourselves. If we finish anywhere other than 8th, 9th or 10th, then I would be very surprised. We might catch Newcastle, one of the relegation battlers might pull clear and surge past us. But that's about it I'd suggest.

It's essential that Osvaldo is replaced before the end of the summer transfer window. There is no denying that. But signing someone tomorrow just for the sake of an extra body? I'd take it or leave it. And especially if they're already Cup tied - the one competition where an extra signing could end up being worth making, come May. I see little reason for short-termism in our current position. If you can't look further ahead in our position, then when can you? Sign quality please Saints, not quantity. If the right person isn't available to come in tomorrow, then wait until the summer. Fine by me.

I was annoyed (angry even) that we didn't replace Puncheon at the start of the season. Thought we left ourselves exposed there, and weak. I wont be annoyed this time with Osvaldo, not stuck in 9th position.

 

Seems clear Osvaldo will go, and that Saints will trust in Sam.
