Probably the confirmation of Osvaldo/Puncheon's departures. Would be surprised if there's anyone inbound; would likely have heard about it by now, and Peach seems sure that no further business will be done. Not necessarily looking forward to the games where we need a goal and have to choose between Guly and Isgrove as attack-minded subs, but such is life.
Wasnt there debate on here recently (actually maybe a year back) regarding Puncheon and that we should have accepted £750k and let him go. Turns out we did the right thing if we do get the reported £1.75m...considering we got playing time out of him, important goals and loan fees/wages probably covered at other times. Well done Cortese!
Yea, I have to say, our bench is going to be very, very weak in an attacking sense if we don't bring in a striker.
I suppose the good thing about deadline day is that when Sky say that news regarding some transfer is "coming up" it will be within the following 12 hours. January is not the time to do good business and the youngsters keep on getting closer to the first team. I won't be disappointed if we sign nobody provided those leaving are only peripheral to our future. To those who think that we should sell Shaw for some fee or other, I can only assume that it's the effect of playing too much virtual footy. I don't want him leaving for any money.
I don't think anyone was saying we should sell him a year ago, were they? He was a regular starter for us then.
All is pointing to a busy summer. Getting rid of the dead wood and rumoured to be letting Guly go in the summer.
Regardless of whether or not we bring anyone new into the club, I think we have had a decent transfer window by shipping out a couple of troublesome players (Ossy and Punch) and moving on some non core players thus freeing up some wages. This freed up cash can be used to support new players or enhance existing players who will need a few more quid to keep them in the club Additionally not loosing any of our front line players must be considered a real plus!
Hold the front page! I don't think you can infer anything about the summer from this. It could mean we will be active in summer, or it could mean we are reigning back our spending and looking to the academy even more.
I agree with this. It's a bit boring but we're quietly clearing out a fair bit of dead wood, which will hopefully free up wages and top up our summer transfer kitty. I'd like an Osvaldo replacement to come in because it's a risk going with just Lambert and Gallagher but we can hopefully cope and we'll almost certainly finish 9th this year anyway. Either that or Poch is a keen photographer and has had a dark room installed in St Mary's.
Perhaps Saints can use all this flood of money to subsidise travel for fans to the Sunderland game. No, course not, that would clearly be a ****ing absolutely ****ing mental ****ing thing to ****ing do.
Heh, we'll need to be active even if we're looking to the Academy even more, or we won't have much of a team left. We already have -- by far -- the smallest squad in the Premier League.
A bit of a tangent (and at the risk of setting CBK off on a rant) but what time will people have to leave Southampton to make a 12:45 kick off in Sunderland anyway?
Saints flop Dani Osvaldo will make his debut for Juventus against Inter Milan after undergoing his medical in Italy. The player will be thrust straight into a heated clash on Sunday with Serie A title rivals Inter after finally escaping his nightmare in England
