People like to overreact when it comes to football(and life in general)!

I've just checked and after 20 games in Koemans last season, we had the same points and were actually a few places below where we are now.

In Pochs full season with us, we had 3 more points than this season.

Ok we may feel that we are having a bad season and the football being played isn't as exciting as the last few but they are mostly getting the same results. Add to this the extra Europa games and good EFL cup run, a manager who has never played or managed outside France and I feel on the whole Puel is doing a good job.

He has to be given time to shape the squad and I'm sure that we will strengthen in this window and then again in the summer.

This league is very competitive and I would say that almost every team is good enough to finish in the top ten but obviously not every team can finish in the top ten so for us to be on course means we are doing ok.

We were never going to keep finishing higher and higher every season so why are so many people getting agitated when we are actually level with last season and it's not where you are after 20 games but where you are when the season finishes that counts!

Nah, #PuelOut the people have spoken! Far too reasonable a post to be a Saints fan.

Can you imagine the state the club would be in if it were run by the fans?

<laugh> Catholic atheist. There's no escape, is there? One of my old mates is a Buddhist, but definitely a Catholic Buddhist.

I bet Shane is a Catholic agnostic.

Puel now 8/1 with sky bet for the elbow. Was 16/1 after the Everton match. For people that are more knowledgeable of betting odds, is this purely reflective of punters rushing down to the bookies? Or has something else happened since that game that I've missed?

In a market such as this it wouldn't take a lot of money to see the price clipped in a bit and 8/1 also isn't very telling. I'm sure after the Everton match, in the days that followed a few people will have had a punt on Puel winning the sack race. It would be different if he suddenly went to evens or odds-on then you could almost sit and wait for the breaking news.

Ah, ok. I'm such a novice when it comes to odds. If it's anything other than 'X'/1, then I'm lost.

Odds of 40/1 for no manager to leave their club before the end of the season. That's actually great value. Most of the clubs that will sack their manager already have. Walter Mazzari is the only dodgy one. Highly doubt Sunderland will sack moyes anytime soon and we defintely will keep Puel til the end of the season. Everyone else is pretty safe in my eyes.

After only just hiring him? They shelled out enough to get rid of Pardew so they won't be doing that again. Plus Allardyce will probably do a decent job and keep them up.

I dunno. It's just all that stuff that the chairman came out with about Allardyce "almost being a guarantee of staying up" so if it get's into March/April and they're still in/around the relegation zone I could see the chairman getting twitchy again, especially if he back's him with a load of cash in January as they've already shelled out plenty last summer so going down would be an absolutely nightmare for them...

Koeman has pretty much been doing as badly as Martinez yet people are saying "it's not his team, let him build his squad". Up until recently Jose was doing as badly as Van Gaal. We give those two, who have experience of the PL far more time and leeway than we seem to be allowing our own boss.

I would be happier if we lost, but looked like we could have won. Whilst not expecting total disaster (the R word), I am pretty much without hope for every game now. I can't remember when I last felt like that.

I've just wasted a great deal of time reading through this in hope of transfer rumours. Is there no manager thread you can argue on?

I recall Shane being most effective when we were low in possession, allowed teams to press up and then hit in behind their defence. If there was one man you could bet on getting the ball in a foot race it would be him. Have you noticed how little teams are pressing us this season? They're content to give us large amounts of possession. There's no room for him to burn pace into and allow that threat of being clattered I don't think, which rather bizarrely means we aren't playing his strengths at all. Funny old game eh?

Yep was it last season or this season that he basically outpaced someone from the halfway line and got brought down - guy got sent off i think. Let me look it up.

    Edit - Watford this season.....
