Normally adverse to loan deals but this is the sort of quick fix we need to see us out til summer. Quality player, benefits all 3 parties and means we avoid a panic buy.

Although would Arsenal want to get rid of their 2nd choice striker? I doubt it.

 

I would've thought he was third choice behind Giroud and Welbeck is returning from injury which can only decrease his playing time. I think it makes sense for both parties but there could be nothing in it.

 

Hmm forgo about Welbeck actually. Although who would you rather, Perez or Welbeck?
I'd certainly welcome the deal anyway.

 

If I'm Wenger, I'm much more open to loaning Welbeck out than Perez. Welbeck you would think needs game time following his injury. And even when he is fit, he's surely a little way down the pecking order (whether through the middle, or out wide).

But for us, even if Welbeck was available and did want to come here, we'd be taking on someone fresh from a serious injury. We've already got one of those. Who knows what impact the injury has had on Welbeck. I'd be inclined to look elsewhere, unless 31 January is approaching and we're getting desperate.

Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato (via Area Napoli) has made an interesting claim on Gabbiadini’s future.



Venerato believes Wolfsburg and Southampton are ready to make an €18m offer for Gabbiadini, and are also in regular contact with his agent, Silvio Pagliari.


He adds Stoke City are also keen, but their offer is lower than that of Wolfsburg, Southampton and Schalke, whilst Borussia Dortmund also contacted his agent a couple of days ago to get information on the Italian forward.

 

Welbeck isn't much of a goal scorer. He's not what we need.

Don't think he ever said we weren't. Just the classic we will wait until January and assess the squad, which they will have done anyway.

It seems that Napoli are only keen on the deal to raise funds to spend immediately, which suggests they'd want the money in January.

Although this is all paper talk, so is to be taken with a pinch (kilogram) of salt.

 

Getting Gabbiadini woud be a huge step up for Saints and at 18m euro he's in our price range. Quickish and can run with the ball. I'd be stoked if we signed him.

 

Batshuayi on loan might be a decent option too.

 

I'd imagine that that would have to require the player requesting a loan move. Even without European football, and even if they're about 14 points clear come mid January, I can't see Chelsea just willingly loaning him out - just in case anything was to happen to Costa.

I'm guessing Dembele at Celtic would be looking at bigger clubs than us. Unless his agent can see a nice extra payday for himself, by persuading the player to use us a stepping stone first too.
