The club is clearly up for sale so I'll be surprised if we spend much (if anything) in January.

Unless the sale goes through soon and we start throwing Yuan around.

We won't sign a striker in Jan, we don't really need one in all honesty, what we have is good enough.

You realise only four teams have scored fewer goals than us this season.

We have averaged 1 goal per game so far.

Rodriguez and long can't find the net for love nor money so all the pressure is on Charlie Austin who had a brilliant spell but has scored just 1 goal in our previous 7 games - and that was a penalty.

But yeah, we don't need another striker.

Eight in eleven games across all comps, and blanked six times over that span. Last year, we scored 1.6 a game; we're definitely shy of goals.

We've needed a new striker for some time now. The commentator on the Liverpool game stream I watched said we have the worst chance/shot (can't remember which) conversion rate in the league. That didn't surprise me. Austin is the only player we have right now who's really capable of regularly scoring goals and he's having a rough patch. I think Boufal will come good but even with him chipping in we'd still need another striker.

I think Long is the best striker we have at the moment but isn't firing at. I will that he will come good shortly. Austin was bought as a target man but I worry about his turn of speed which proved to be a handicap against Liverpool. Goals have been a struggle since the pre-season friendlies and I don't feel a lot has changed. Redmond should be stuck out wide although I am not totally convinced by him and have not been too impressed , other than the odd game, so far. As for Jay-Rod, we should give him a run out at Arsenal and see if we get a performance out of him, He has had a few chances now and, unfortunately, I don't feel that he looks a shadow of his previous self. One to move on in January, I think?

No but i'm guessing thats because there was a bit of a demand for it. Really don't see why threads that are active need to be locked. Same as i don't understand why threads that arn't date/time based like the prediction league and match day threads need to be stickied. Just my view so don't worry to much about it.

The past few years saints have been extremely quiet and dull during January - usually a good sign as your current squad is performing well. Whereas this season January will almost certainly be relatively busy for us. Surely Puel and the board are aware of what is required and will address matters. My only concern is the possible effects the rumoured takeover may have on spending.

A proven striker is one of the hardest things to buy...I remember being ecstatic when we got Sharp (still makes me sad to think about him).

Jrod being linked with a move to Hull, I think that would make sense i'm guessing a loan till the end of the season. Leaves a space in the squad for that new striker we all want desperately.

Indeed. I'm confident the black box has some prospects in Europe we could go for. Obviously the Sturridge deal would be perfect for us but thinking that's unrealistic. We can dream!

Sums up my thoughts although I'd give Redmond more credit. If England aren't appreciative of his talents he's eligible for Ireland AFAIK and we'll have him! I'm afraid I've all but given up on JRod. Looks a shadow of himself which is no surprise. Jan is a horrible time to try and pick up a quality striker. It's unlikely that we'll get someone with a proven track record at a decent level without breaking the bank

This must be a jest! If you're serious, then let's sell one of them & just pocket the cash.
