For a club with a massive media department, the lack of real news out of the club is astonishingly bad. I don't expect blow for blow details of things, but all we really get is a once or twice a season video from Les Reed & Kruger and that's normally when things are all hunky-dory and they are crowing about what a good job they do.
The media department have probably written and re-written a thousand press releases without publishing them, knowing that the hounds are out there, drooling and just waiting to tear whatever statement it is to pieces. Probably thought "why bother."
Puel's poor performance in interviews is fine if we are doing the business on the pitch, but it does matter when we need cuddling (especially as our Captain appears to be in purdah). The club has a history of silence anyway....as I said before...where is our Chairman? Probably afraid of being hung out to dry again. I know words are only words and action is better, but someone needs to throw the fans a bone.
The only bone I'm interested in being thrown is a win. Or a new signing. Couldn't really give a toss what the media department says, until they actually have something substantive to tell us.
As I said action is better, but saying nothing lets people fill in their own gaps. The fans are on the club's side....not the enemy....I'm not asking for innermost knowledge of the clubs plans, but I would like the occasional suggestion that there is one. Puel isn't a Churchill, so someone has to take on that role....used to be Fonte
Thank goodness for that. I haven't said much on this particular topic because I thought I was the only one who gets a big niggly about the club's communication with the fans and I didn't want to appear like a whinger. I can find loads and loads of media from the players saying 'we're disappointed', 'it's not the result we wanted' and 'we must do better', well as a fan I'd like to think professional footballers would feel that way and I don't need four different players and the manager saying 'we must do better'. Just an occasional hint or something other than the player quotes would be nice - and no powder-puff peices about what a great run club we are and we are doing everything the Southampton Way - when the Southampton Way this season and the Southampton Way last season seem to be two completely different things.
Twitter message saying we are in talks with Chinese LeEco, which if Wiki is to be believed is another dodgy looking enterprise! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeEco
Sounds positive "In late 2016, the chairman Jia Yueting admitted that the company was facing acute financial troubles, stating: "We blindly sped ahead, and our cash demand ballooned. We got over-extended in our global strategy. At the same time, our capital and resources were in fact limited." The company has indicated that it will raise billions of dollars from investors, but did not specify where the money would come from or how it would be allocated."
They have invested in Faraday Future - a rival of Tesla. Weird because I was reading this article this morning and now his name has been mentioned here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38503987
Them days have gone. But I always remember his time with great fondness. A total bastard, our total bastard.
Would it? Wasn't he the one who had promised the star players they could go in a year via a gentlemen's agreement?
Breaking News. The sale of the club has never interested the Chinese, the due diligence over the last seven weeks has always been around Jose Fonte. Eight super league clubs have been battling it out to sign him hence all the Chinese people sighted activity. Once he moves he'll reportedly be on £8M a week which will annoy Ronaldo enough to get him out of Europe. Now, where are we going to spend the £35M?
