Yes Maddison was a fave of mine but Holmes prob deserves a midfield spot.

needed to remind myself of the blayney goal as I've always considered it overrated. he'd have to have dived out of the way not to get his hand to it and he nearly did, but to lift it over the bar was good, even if most of the upward momentum was already there for him.

What I was reminded of though was Leandre Griffit in the same game, scoring his second premier league goal in 5 games. What went wrong with him?

edit: looking up wikipedia, it becomes apparent that he played professional football before signing for us, so it's even less relevant to the thread than I first thought.

Keith Grainger also came second in superkids ( I think that was what it was called), proper Lordshill hero in the late 70s/early 80s

It was Folly. And then he ended up working at JD sports in Sheffield.

Lallana is excluded because of Bournemouth. Had it in my head that we signed Waldron from elsewhere but just checked and you are spot on. One of my fave Saints pplayers.

Good point and it might have been that I left the 'o' out of point when I had had several before posting, on the other hand I'm not sure how good in goal he is/was. As an aside I remember Manny coming and playing Senior League Football with the team I was playing for on Sundays.. maybe 70/71 as a 15 year old to 'toughen him up'. Believe me, he was already tough enough..

Jeff Kenna also came through the youth.

We're really good at producing full backs

I think Matt Oakley qualifies. I'd have him sitting in the middle along JWP.
