I can't see the reason why people are debating the small points of Cortese this, Cortese that. Without Cortese, this club no longer exists. That's about as close to the nub of the matter as it gets.
The rest is relative window dressing. He's gone now. Some liked him, some didn't. It's over. The club exists; is in the PL pushing for Europe again, and is extremely healthy. Hooray.!

I find it interesting how the rumours of Katharina selling the club have never truly dispersed.

Apart from all the Mud slinging and media conjecture following Nicolas exit.
The words and actions of the club and Katharina have been the opposite of someone looking to sell.

Yet the question and idea still remains for a good number of people.

Easy...she's a woman who has inherited a club from her father....she cannot possibly want to keep it (received opinion). We are closer to the issue....most people will read one thing and never forget it....I bet we have opinions on other clubs based on one comment on a forum. No excuse for the media....they should be better informed. She may not keep the club for ever and ever, but that is true of most owners (and most of them don't have any emotional link to a club).

I think being a woman is enough to attract flak in the wonderful world of football .
After all we still (just) have "tight shorts" Blatter in charge of the game.

I am amused more than annoyed by the myth insisting our owner would disappear tomorrow leaving us with a £63m hole to fill. However as it's mainly Pompey fans and the Daily Mail (both renowned for their financial acumen) who perpetuate it, I try to look kindly on them..

If KL did leave tomorrow leaving Saints with said debt, at least there are more than enough assets to pay that debt off (worse case scenario).

Understandable, but faffing over the side issues is pointless when there wouldn't be any side issues without the main point.

Why would a successful business woman walk away from a successful business (turning over an annual profit) with outstanding debts of £62m and large valuable assets (SMS, Staplewood and players). She could sell it but walk away? Don't be daft.

With these assets and future incomes (based on EPL status) the club would sell for £150m-£250m

Exactly who would destroy a valuable business that they own. Owing money to the owner is not a problem unless the owner goes bust.

I assumed that people were simply using "walk away" in place of "sell". And you're right; when we're sold, she'll not only be made whole on the current debt, but will almost assuredly realize a nine-figure profit. A long, long way from being underwater on the investment.
