But going through to a final must be different? You could argue at an earlier round that Luton still had to beat teams to get to the final.
The round doesn't make a difference to me, it's still the same thing. The club Luton played the following round could have made the same argument that they might have reached final if they were given a bye.

Really not wanting to stir any pots, but where do you draw the line for that argument? Would the teams that missed out on the play offs have a hat in the ring too?
Ideally yeah, if we've admitted to it during the season then in an ideal world you'd have a points deduction which would change the make up of play offs.

Practically though that's never going to happen due to timeframes and was off the table as soon as you kicked off against Hull before we were charged.

I feel for you lot and definitely think the timing is unfair but I don't think Boro going through itself is unusual or unfair.

I would agree, but the EFL charged us on the Friday and then let the two semi-final legs be played in full. If they had postponed the matches and then came to this decision, I think they would have a far stronger case.

Yeah that's where it gets murky I agree.

I think the second leg definitely should have been postponed. Might have been a bit late for first.

As we all said at the time they were obviously desperately hoping they'd beat us.

I'm going to add that this is what I think the club will argue, because you know, money....

Has it been mentioned whether we spied in the FA Cup, in which case should Fulham or Arsenal be reinstated? And what would happen if we had won the cup? I have said before that if we didn't go on that cup run, we may have made the automatics, and wouldn't be having this conversation.

Hull owner has confirmed they are talking to lawyers as it is unfair to have their opponents suddenly changed with such short notice. EFL have had a nightmare

This is probably our best bet of getting reinstated. If Hull have a strong case here, and they need the final to be played because of Sky/sponsors money then we get reinstated

Don't think the spying law applies to the FA Cup.

Sorry Hull fans but maybe we should just have 3rd placed play 3rd bottom in the Prem instead.

So Millwall v West Ham at Wembley. No chance of the game being brought into dispute then.

Only gonna get more complicated from next season now it’s 6 teams involved.. EFL really don’t make it easy for themselves do they!

Imagine this happening next season and a team finishing ****ing 9th is threatening legal action because they think they deserve a shot at promotion <laugh>
