Just spotted this little gem in the Guardian's Premier League talking points....


8) Saints should play to the whistle
Southampton players fell like ninepins in the first half against Fulham but, on most occasions, Mark Clattenburg, the referee, deemed that the injuries were not serious and tried to keep the play moving, regardless of which team had possession – as he is instructed to. But the home players constantly pleaded with him to stop the game, which destroyed the natural ebb and flow. Play to the whistle, guys. Russell Kempson

Is this a fair comment?

Considering Richardson went off on a stretcher I would say, er.......NO!
 
Not really no. Schneiderlin hassled the ref to stop the game when Richardson went down, when really he had no right to, but they're using rather a lot of artistic licence in their description of it.

Don't see where he's accusing players of diving though, your title is arguably as guilty as they are!
 
Absolutely not!
JRod got a nasty tackle from Sidwell that should have seen a yellow card but the useless ref missed probably the worst tackle of the game and there was the Richardson incident that ended with him being carried off.
We are the last club that anyone can call divers and injury bunnies.
I wish we could as we might get more free kicks and penalties like the big boys and their prima donner foriegn superstars

Eh? I thought he did a muscle. From where I was sat it looked as though he pulled up sharply with no one around him.

I think you missed his point (and he missed his comma that would have linked the "missed worst tackle" bit to the tackle on Jay rod, not Richardson)

Not really as a couple of them were head injuries, Referees should stop the game for that, but even some leg injuries can be lessened if treatment is given early doors.
 
I seem to remember there were three injury stoppages in a short space of time, Richardson, a Fulham player, and someone else who got a knock to the head. The ref played on and called the trainer on at the next stoppage, fine. I remember a game a few years ago in the Championship (possibly against Plymouth?) when the first half was nearly an hour long because of so many injuries. There would be a two minute stoppage, and then thirty seconds later the physio was back on.

Did anyone notice when yoshi chipped the ball over the top of an injured Fulham player rather than kicking it out.
 
Was it Lallana diving when Sidlow hammered his elbow into his cheekbone?

I think it's a little bit like a lower key version of Suarez TBH. Lambert is going down quite easily and it has been noticed by many. Funnily enough this week he didn't go down much at all.
