Saints are 'increasingly hopeful' on Victor Wanyama signing a new deal at St. Mary's

I am pleased to see our new players starting to gel....wasn't too sure of them at first, but they are getting up to speed now. I think we should listen to Ronald when he explained the massive difference between the EPL and the leagues that players like Clasie etc had come from.

 

I think we are safer now....not so many obvious stars....our strength is as a team. And most are on longer contracts.

 

Thing about Clasie yesterday - it wasn't just his tenacity and reading of the game, he put in some delicious passes. One reverse pass to Long stands out in my memory.

 

Poor Clasie has been in the wars with 2 injuries keeping him out of the squad....let's hope he hasn't got another.

How's Italy?

 

Wonderful....because Italy is always wonderful.

 

It's one place I never been, I would like to though....

 

You should....varies in style, but so lovely. Amalfi drive is stunning. Far South...more rugged. Tuscany and Umbria....beautiful hill towns and Florence of course. Oh, and Venice...and Rome....could go on and on.

 

You make it sound lovely Fran, will defiantly think about booking a trip up.
Have you ever been to Sardinia? Just been looking at some pictures and it looks stunning.

Did stay at lake Como a few years back for the F1 GP , but did not see much of Italy .

 

It's definitely on our to visit list, never really heard of anyone not liking it.

 

It doesn't matter if you sell to your own league. If anything, that's even better than selling outside of your league.

The way the philosophy works is that whenever you overpay for a player you weaken your club by draining resources that could have been better spent elsewhere. Whenever you sell a player at more than value, you strengthen your club by adding resources.

So making a club in your own league overpay you for your players simultaneously strengthens your team while weakening theirs. It's like Liverpool directly handing us 20m. That's better than Real handing us 20m. It makes it a six pointer instead of a regular three points.

 

That would be great news if true and a real vote of confidence on what is going on at our club

 

I was beginning to think along those lines, also looking at the fact all our players who've commanded 15m plus, haven't exactly flourished in 'our betters' different systems or improved their new teams (just look at Lallana frantically trying to create an iconic moment yesterday, in an attempt sear a memory in skeptical Liverpool fan's minds; while whispering plaintively in Klopps ear, "Never let me go ...to Sunderland ...Daddy (?!?)"

But to sell al a Lyonnaise, is a bit rich for my blood. I think we will face increased competition for being the non CL club which can command the highest prices, can we maintain our premium?

 

Koeman said that he told Wanyama to look at what has happened with other players who have left.

 

God, that's chilling.
