I would suggest that if they are able to get a profit on players that are sold, then the success part would be the reason they are more valuable…
What is your alternative proposal for how the club should be run? Buy expensive players and sell them cheaply?
Controversially, I'd like the club to spend the maximum it can afford both in terms of its own sustainability and against the ridiculously bent rules that have been imposed that keep the status quo in order to compete, and perhaps just maybe occasionally flirt with the idea of winning ****. Clearly though I'm just stuck in 2016. We're lucky to have a club etc etc
That's three people in three different seasons. I'd rather build a squad of Lavia clones that we can/do sell at £50m a pop, than a club of Onuachu clones who we can't get rid of. The former is likely to be the successful one.
Do you think they are not spending the max they can afford? Spending money hasn’t been the problem recently, it’s who they spend it on that’s been the issue. I don’t think all the signings have been with an eye on turning a profit either, just as many as most other clubs do I’d say (without actually checking anything to back that up)
We've been doing exactly that. Just we've been spending it on ****e, which is what Spors is here to improve. Good times to come, eh?
Lincoln, I have to applaud your unceasing negativity. It takes hard work and determination to stay this miserable!
Were has all this faith in Spors come from? Everything is tickety-boo because some fella none of us had heard of 6 months ago says it will be? There's happy clapping and then there's this. We're way way more likely to be Luton than Leeds next season, and will continue this trajectory until SR get bored.
I tried so ****ing hard to be optimistic. Then SR kicked all and every bit of hope out of me. The twats.
Wait...it's still going? I figured it must be preseason friendlies that we are tamely rolling over in
Based on what? I don't think we'll be top of the league this time next year but we'll be in/just outside the play offs imo.
It's just Lincs being Lincs, he had us to finish 17th in the Championship the last time we went down...
The maximum it can afford is basically f*ck-all. We can only afford to spend, because we have a wealthy owner. If you think that we will win things by spending what the club generates through tickets sales and TV (oh, after paying player salaries and other expenses of course), you are living in la-la land.
The issue is that the Premier League is vastly better than the Championship. As such being the whipping boys in this league means nothing next year. We have the finances to build a much stronger side, more able to compete. I don’t mind yoyoing as at least one season out of every 2 is fun.
