Unless Dark Lord, you can find a season ticket holder living near you who you could contact for them to get you a ticket when you need one... they may even be able to provide a seat in a vehicle that is already going to St Marys/s .... Know any<whistle>

They should care about us because we ARE the club. To use your example, if Tesco went bust tomorrow, it's customers wouldn't immediately set up Tesco 2012 ltd. If Portsmouth went bust tomorrow (as they may well do), how long would it be before there was another Portsmouth Football Club? The most enlightened Football Association in the world (the German FA) recognises this, hence the 50+1 rule.

That's all well and good but it's far too sunshine and rainbows. Of course they want to keep us interested, because then we'll keep giving them money, but they won't sacrifice profits for the sake of a slightly happier fanbase.

It's not like this is even mistreating fans - just those few who think they're more important than other people.

I think a few on here are overestimating the size of our regular paying support.
Yes they'll be a few more season ticket holders and away allocations are more likely to be filled but this is not like life at the dell where you were up at 6am on a Saturday morning to queue round the block for a ticket.

I expect games will sell out but don't think that it will be the bum fight some on here think it will.

The city match is on tv during the school hols so will go on general sale.

Yes this is tough for those long distant fans or those with work commitments, who could become unlucky if there free match day is Chelsea home for example, but some system is needed to give more regular visitors 1st dibs.

Sorry, we disagree. Football fans in this country are shafted left, right and centre, and for several reasons treating football clubs as businesses just doesn't work. The 50+1 rule works in Germany, and I would rather be a football fan in Germany than in England for any number of reasons. This sums a lot of them up.

Saintlyhero, I don't know what tickets you que up for, but i've never seen a bum fight queing for Saints tickets...

Why doesn't it work? There are a lot of differences so treating them as a business in every situation doesn't work, but on the most basic level, owners of football clubs will want to maximise profits and to do that you have to bleed the customer drive. Football clubs aren't the only organisations who wring the last penny out of every customer. It's all well and good that Germany buck the trend but if I was an owner I know I'd try to get as much money as I possibly could.

Besides, how is this specific situation an attempt at ****ing over the fans? It's bringing in a loyalty system which rewards the fans - it's just a specific few who can't take that their mountain of superiority isn't recognised yet.

How will this affect people like me who live away from Southampton and can't get to many games? I'll be disappointed if when I am able to, for example when saints visit swansea, or around xmas time when I'm back home visiting family, I can't get a ticket.

Maybe they should have the opposite of a loyalty scheme in place for some tickets; I don't think it's too much to ask that every fan gets the opportunity to attend three or four games a season.

Haha...it would be a good side show if it did happen.

Whilst you can't please everyone I have to agree with Mr. Nice that the club is a business and at least this loyalty system is free.
Plenty of membership style schemes like at Arsenal which charge you £50 a season just to have a chance of getting a ticket.
If saints did that then there would be cause for complaint.

Although I can understand why the club has set up this loyalty scheme what I can't understand is the way in which season ticket holders still effectively get priority on the purchase of home match tickets.

As a season ticket holder you already have a seat for every home game and therefore why should you have priority on buying another ticket over somebody that doesn't have a season ticket but still wants to go the game.

Surely it would be better to put home match tickets on sale to non-season ticket holders first but using the loyalty scheme to determine the priority for the sale of these tickets. Then if there any left these could go on sale to season ticket holders to give them the opportunity to earn extra points.

Doing it this way would also provide a fairer way of selling away match tickets as non-season ticket holders would be given more of an opportunity to accrue loyalty points on a regular basis so that they could compete with season ticket holders who already have points 'in the bank'.

The short answer ptf is it's going to be very difficult. There's only going to be a few thousand tickets going each time and you are going to have to borrow a season ticket and get queueing bright and early on day 1, or pay someone in pints to do it for you. Or get to know the hold music/your refresh button and pray you connect in time. Problem is, this is going to mean you don't get any loyalty points to your name.

Related subject - does anyone know how many season tickets are sold/available for sale? Will give us an idea of how many tickets will be sold.

If your question is directly about the loyalty system then all it means is that it will be very difficult for you to get tickets to the Swansea game. But, it would have been anyway, seeing as they only have about 2000 away seats and we have about 22000 ST holders.

The STH don't start on 295 points. EVERY fan starts on 0, because they get accrued over the season. For example I start on 0, but I will get 20 points after the wigan game. The only people above 0 on the Wigan game will be those who go to the Etihad.

Wouldn't be quite so difficult with a level playing field though.

I agree with this point. I am a season ticket holder, so why should i get protrity over others for home league games. Away games and cup games, I understand, but home league games is bizarre.
