not to jinx him, but Alfie Jones has been very good at this level. Seems to have moved in very comfortably at centre back. Him and McCarthy could well have first team careers ahead of them

We have five very good central midfielders, so it's tough for him, but he definitely has outgrown this level.

I'm sure it's useful for him to be a leader in this young team, but for his own development i'm shocked he has not gone out on loan. Can't believe league one or league two clubs would not be after him.

Or even Championship/lower-end Premier League clubs. I did read that we blocked any move for him as he was needed for squad cover - but that's not turned out well, in my opinion.

I guess with Big Vics long suspension, he is another midfield absence from being on the bench.

Gallagher improving tonight. Much more involved
