Afzal has been likened to Andy Robertson when he was at Queens Park at 16 so this could be an absolute coup for Saints. Obviously he's got a long way to go but he's very highly rated.

Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that Nick Oyekunle has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2028.
The 19-year-old striker has had a year to remember as, after initially making the step up from Under-18s football to the Under-21s squad, he was handed his first team debut and has recorded four senior appearances to date.
The all-time top goalscorer in the Under-18s Premier League made his professional debut as a late substitute against Preston North End in November 2025, and was part of the Academy cohort that powered Saints into the last 16 of the FA Cup in a memorable win over Leicester City.
After signing a contract extension last summer, Oyekunle has now signed a new deal to secure his future at the club.

Nick Oyekunle wins the under-21s Player’s Player of the Year award. He scored 10 goals in 15 PL2 games, and has been with the first-team a fair bit.

Hansel Adjei-Afriyie, a starter for the under-21s, wins the under-18s age group Player of the Year award.

Barnaby Williams receives the Ben Cull award. First team assistant coach Jeremy Newton with a very poignant speech about the young midfielder who made his first team debut this season after recovering from a horrible car crash.
