Just one more disappointment to a disappointing season was that we got knocked out of the league cup before Sims and Hesketh were back from injury and missed the chance to prove themselves. and now we just have so many out of favour attackers competing for gametime in a season where we haven't really had the surplus to experiment. I don't see Sims as offering less than Redmond or Long out wide for sure, really think he should be able to establish himself if he's given the chance. Its been obvious to anyone who's seen him play since he was brought into the u21's at 16 that he's got the talent.

We have definately gone backwards this season in regards of game time for the club's own products, even JWP (who is hardly inexperienced) and Jack weren't getting a look in the early part of the season.
I put that down to Pellegrino's natural cautiousness and placing all his trust in the senior players. He has become "braver" in recent weeks and it would be nice to see big talents like Sims and Hesketh get more chances, we may never see another Lallana emerge otherwise.

Just seeing the way Sims skinned an experienced pro (Evans?), at WBA, should merit more time on the bench, at least.
They should also be sitting Redmond down, in front of a video replaying that moment ad infinitum, and telling him “This is what we want you to do”.

My first thought was 'who?' Then I read the article.

"The Slovakia youth international joined Saints in the summer "

"Kozák, who turns 17 today, is yet to appear for Craig Fleming’s Under-18s so far this season due to injury, but is nearing a return to fitness."

Sounds like a proper saints signing.

I’d join in, but my record sounds broken

I thought he looked a little bigger, more bulk which he has needed.

People discussed Nick Powell coming in Jan, I think he’s pretty much at that level now, particularly if he gets a run of games.

I’d suggest he goes on loan next year if he isn’t going to figure much, that may be what he needs.

I don’t know. I do not think Pellegrino has been that bad in this specific area. I think he has been better than Puel or Koeman, actually.

Tough to compare though. You can look at it like Pellegrino has no cushion therefore it is harder to bleed in the youth. Or you can look at it like the team stinks so that should make it easier to swap in someone new.
