They were marching round the stadium singing oh when the saints before the game as well. Got a good ovation at half-time

Looks like they are getting the future sorted, just need to maintain the equilibrium in the interim with a few more astute signings.

McCarthy believes that he returns to SFC a better player for his experience at Wycombe. And by the tone of the article, Wycombe have been pleased with him as well. Be interested to see if he gets involved in our preseason.

I think, like last year and the year before, all the U21s will be given a chance in the first team. Especially with the Euro League on the horizon, I'd imagine they'd be used a lot more (McCarthy being one)

I've been wondering about that - if a player (eg McCarthy) is out on loan for another club, what happens to them at the end of the season? Does the club that they are loaned to have any say on their destination for the following season, or do loanees all return to Saints for pre-season, so that they all receive the same level of Saints coaching, fitness and otherwise, and also so that Saints can re-assess their development, and either keep them within the main squad, send them out on loan again, or decide to release them/part company with them?

Pretty much this - the loan clubs have no say in where they go, although they may try and bring them back (eg. Turnbull to Swindon 2 years running)

That is kind of standard thinking but I don't believe there will be many easy games where we can afford a below strength team.

I am hearing from the Swindon end this may now become permanent.

Be a good move for him - though Turnbull seemed confident of coming back to us for pre-season at least, last I heard.

I'd imagine Stephens & McCarthy (plus Alfie Jones coming through) are probably ahead of him in the pecking order.
