Seems a pretty stupid time to decide to leave and go to a PL academy if the reason for leaving is that they think they are good enough for first team game time. No guarantees but you’d think that they’ll have far more opportunities here with us in the Championship and in theory we have a good chance of going up the following season. It’s the perfect time to integrate yourself into the team if you’re actually good enough. They won’t be breaking into any PL first teams next season.
Could be one of 2 things looking in from the outside Firstly they could get more money elsewhere Secondly they might not be happy with the club prioritising signing young players from other academies. The second point doesn’t really add up to me as if they were good enough we wouldn’t sign anyone, and that would be the case if we were signing 18 or 40 year olds So as usual the obvious answer is they can earn more money elsewhere. Could be some inside stuff of course we wouldn’t know about like they don’t like the coaches etc
Anyone read the article? Seems a bit tactless putting a photo of Ballard on it. Obviously going to make fans jump to conclusions when of course it might not be him involved at all.
HUGE summer for the academy. If we can't blood these lads in the championship, our best group since the jwp days, or convince them to stay, then we might as well close the academy.
Should be an easy sell. Bale, Walcott, Lallana, and Ox-Chamberlain all made their debuts in lower leagues. Doyle and Co will get far more playing time in the Champ. But everything SR touches turns to sh*t, so let's see.
I'm actually generally quite positive towards them and still am. They've cocked it up this season but I think they'll turn it round after we go down.

I just hope I live to see Princewill Ehibhationham starring in the first team and scoring the winning goal for England in the world cup final.
Just Saints@JustSaints_ #SaintsFC U18s fell to a spirited West Brom this afternoon. First half goals from Dibling (x2) and Edmundson weren’t enough to secure a result. please log in to view this image https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...lbion-under-18-premier-league-26th-april-2023
So the Academy boys are already being coached in the 'Points dropped from a losing position' scenarios. Saints always said that they wanted their teams at any level to play like the first team...
