OK, that was an opportune jest, but we spent last season peppering opposition defences with crosses, shots, whatever. Yet, we often couldn't score. Several of us kept asking, through that summer transfer window, where the lead striker was coming from. We were anticipating fewer goals otherwise. We'd had Lambert, we'd had Pelle. These were guys who lead the line. They took the brunt of the attention from opposition CBs. Suddenly, last September, we didn't have one, Because Charlie isn't that type and there was nobody else. So are we changing style or will we get a proper replacement.? That is, we sign the guy to put the smile back on Dusan's face.?
I just throught i would include the 15/16 squad for comparison to show how much we've improved in depth. First team is probably worse now but when you consider that players like Romeu, Prowse, Yoshi, Reed etc have significantly improved since then its quite a difference in depth. i ignored Austin and Rodriguez as they were never really available to us.

To be fair, I'd debate that our first team is now better than that. Depending on how Lemina fits in of course.
All that depth gives us lots of options too, a very similar lineup can be set-up very differently & they're they're all still comfortably 1st. team players

You get permission from the selling club and then negotiate and fee and contract simulataneously (with one perhaps concluding before the others)
Yep, exactly this ... don't need to agree a fee BEFORE you can talk to the player, as long as you have permission from the club!
I have read stuff saying that lazio fans are saying he is their 3rd choice so it is a good deal
