A lot of people have somehow not yet noticed how good he is. They'll see soon enough. Jon Obi Mikel is supposedly joining Galatasaray for a similar figure, and he cost Chelsea £17m, but he's not as good as Wanyama. Kevin Strootman will apparently cost United £15m, and he's no better either.

I'd say both of these players are better than Wanyama. Mikel's an excellent attacking midfielder who's been criminally played out of position by Chelsea for years.
Let's see if you can still say these things in a year's time. Strootman is indeed a great player, and perhaps it's not a perfect comparison as he plays a more advanced role than Wanyama and is good at different things, but they both are at a similar level in terms of passing, quick thinking, and movement; and Wanyama's a couple of years his junior.
Mikel is just not as intelligent on the pitch, nor is he as industrious or consistent.
Arsenal are rumoured to be in for Lars Bender at £15 million as well. I'd take him over Wanyama anyday also.
I wouldn't, Gundogan runs their midfield and makes Bender look better then he is.
This response just shows your ignorance. Chelsea didn't pay £16m for an average defensive midfielder. He was lighting up the youth competitions playing further forward but Mourinho ruined him by playing him in a defensive role.

If it's new news then an interesting development. Still we'll see now if really is interested in Saints or just waiting for a better offer. Then we can start the whole debate about whether he is actually any good, or whether anybody would look good playing against teams like Ross County and Kilmarnock every week...
