Well of course you're right. There's a lot we still don't know in terms of how the team will gel on and off the pitch and if Koeman is a good manager, etc. We can only wait and see.

But it's at least very encouraging that money was spent and the team on paper looks decent. Which should allay some of the fears about asset stripping, etc. And because of all the changes in the backroom, it's unknown how well the team would have performed without MP. It's potentially to our advantage that Koeman has been given the chance to assemble a team that he likes.

There's a big risk any time a club go through as many changes in a season as we have. But I'm pretty excited that despite the odds, I'm pleased with the results of the transfer window.

I'm always stoked!! Come on you reds!! I was also trying to placate those who thin we haven't done as well with replacing the 'big 5'
 
Absolutely class player! What a signing if it comes off.

Not sure what happens in terms of first choice centre back pairing. Could Fonte play left sided CB? Can anyone rember him playing there?

yes against Gillingham away with Aaron Martin playing right side. He was very uncomfortable and Simeon Jackson caused him so many problems. He's not played there since to my memory and never should.

I doubt we will but that would certainly be a possibility as i think Clyne & Bertrand can both play wing back reasonably comfortably

Very exciting signing and someone from abroad who i don't need to google (not that i could spell his name) Looks like it's just a loan, but I hope we've got an option on him in the summer.

Have you ever played at CB? It makes a pretty big difference. It is why most managers ideally like to have a left footed CB, or one who is used to playing on the left of the two.
 
If this happens, who do we feel most sorry for: Yoshida or Florian? Yoshida looks better with time and deserves a run for the club...however, we all know that he is only good enough at a push. Florian has been coming back from an injury and must have hoped for a new start at the club...however, he hasn't managed to displace Yoshida..unless it is still a matter of getting fully fit. I suppose I feel most sorry for Yoshida as I can see him missing out again and he has been here longer. I suspect (unless we bought a dog) that Florian will be in competition for the 2 CB berths.

Hope Jos gets a decent move...lovely chap and has been an asset, but we have moved on too far for him.

I can't remember him ever playing on the left. Gardos is a left centre back but Yoshida is in the side on merit at the moment. It looks like Alderweireld is cover for Fonte and Clyne.

Don't think a player of Alderweireld's caliber would join us, even on loan, if it was as a backup.

He is not going to be cover.
 
This must mean Jos will be leaving possibly out on loan. He'd be 5th choice centre back otherwise. Pretty much guaranteed no play time if he stays.
 
Yoshida has done well in the last three games, however we have spent two seasons bemoaning that we needed an upgrade on him. Now we have an upgrade or maybe two, some are questioning leaving him out. Jos can now be moved on, leaving 4 CBs and the kids coming through. Excellent position to be in. All of them wil need to be on their game. There will be injuries, suspensions and loss of form. We said before losing any players we needed a CB. We then lost Lovren, so needed two CBs.

If Toby comes, that is an excellent job done by the Board and management team.
