For me it still comes down to how people deliver their message. Nothing wrong with a discussion on a player or the club's strengths or weaknesses, but there are those who launch straight into doom.

All I did was point out that the last player we signed who sounds similar to the one here that people were questioning his ability (probably without really seeing much of him), turned out to give us some value.

The massive irony is that you the took my post and turned it into a ruck over the very thing you don't like. You've ranted over something that wasn't even said or inferred. Nuts!

Perhaps you should have accepted that I was just joinin in a discussion and pointing out he may be good for us.

I did indeed engage it on the terms of the thing I don't like, because it's been going on for ages and I'm frankly tired of threads getting derailed by preening posts about posters. There are doom-mongering posts, no question. Not every thread needs to involve several pages of inveighing against a lone doom-mongering post (or supposed doom-mongering post).

Well from that, I take it you mean me. Perhaps you should use the private message system to tell me your thoughts or complaints about me rather than publicly. That's what it's for.

You've done well to turn this one into a similar vein.

Funny again that you did it on a post where I didn't dig another poster.

There you go lapras, we hadn't the tie back to lower leagues where it belongs.

    Wrong thread.
Hey you two, don't fight, there has been quite a bit of neg around this new signing, but I think its just how the results have come in, it seems more system related than player. That will probably continue till we do a typical play them off the park and lose game (then we can all start to dream). The new guy will be a welcome addition.
    Group hug!

I'm not attacking you at all. I used you as an example because you have a reputation for being about the most positive person here, yet even you got shellacked for being too negative when you had the temerity to point out the flaws in Pelle's game. That's where your involvement in this begins and ends. I'd just like this to be a forum where we spent more time actually engaging the content of posts rather than the supposed motivations of the posters.

I have no problem when people have a pop if I question a player or the club. It's not a problem to me.

How do you tell when someone is replying to the content of a post or the supposed motivation? You can't. I reply to what I read.

It will always be that way.

    Folk are different.

Schad, the only way you'll stop what you don't like is if people didn't reply to views they don't agree with.

As soon as I reply with a different view, I get accused of all sorts rather than people countering my view. I'd rather people questioned my view than moan at me, but sadly they doesn't always happen.

In the diamond, you're still primarily attacking through the center. "Splitting out wide" just means pulling the CB's out to try and create a gap for the AMC. They're not sprinting out to the corner flag or anything. It's more a matter of timing than speed or covering a distance.

In fact, if they run much beyond the box, then it's pointless because the FB comes to pick them up. You're trying to operate in the seam between CB and FB. And if the CB doesn't follow you, then you need to be in position to pick up the pass and shoot or return a give-and-go.

Saints Web are currently having a huge discussion about the discord which now seems to run through everything not606 and how it used to be such a lovely place. Most seem to think its Puels fault and now someone is saying that Puel and Fonte had a huge row about it and Fonte has handed in a transfer request with the backing of the dressing room. Apparently Kat has had enough and is going to liquidate the team.

Congratulations everyone, your bickering has ruined it for everyone.

Seeing that that is in blue, are we assuming that you're being sarcastic and blue isn't really the sarcasm font?

The bigger issue for me is that the strikers are splitting very wide out of possession; one of the advantages of having a big striker who can win headers is that they can serve as a release valve to hold up play (or their layoffs can be used to start a counter), but that's much harder to accomplish if you're having to pause for a spell while they move from a deep, wide position into one more generally associated with a striker.

Further, good though he is in the air, the majority of our crosses are coming from deeper areas; that generally means that the striker on the receiving end is going to be attacking from a deeper position as well, and in more traffic. Playing with wingers would give us the chance to stretch play on the wide side, and make some lower degree-of-difficulty crosses into a big man able to take up a position 10-12 yards out when the cross is hit, rather than 15+.

It will be the normal saints transfer deadline day tomorrow. Jordan Sibley will tweet around 8pm, saying good night all, our work is done. Think Boufal was the one we wanted and got, and that will be it. So unlike every other transfer deadline day, I will have a 24 hour sabbatical from tonight.

Good news is it could be a classic Saints smokescreen. Which means another signing imminent.
