Magath has been more successful than Koeman in his career?

As I mentioned on the other thread I am a member of another football forum which is much more open so more fans from from different places talking about football in general. There was talk about Koeman becoming Saints boss on there and some people who follow Dutch/Portuguese/Spanish leagues gave their opinions, here is what some of them said.

2 points firstly, there is a user on that forum called MLG (who is also quite well known on Saintsweb I believe) who is very easy to troll and wind up because he is very deluded so quite a few opinions may be just to get a rise out of him, I've tried to leave as many of them out as possible.

Secondly this isn't meant to be a positive or negative endorsement of Koeman, just thought people may like to hear what people who seem to know more about him say. Anyway here they are

Again I'm not trying for this to come across as a negative post (although it may seem like it), just curious as to why a lot of people are excited about Koeman? (Bar the fact that we will have a manager in place)

All valid points, it's certainly not the "safe pair of hands" appointment some people think it is.

Koeman is still my first choice and to be honest i would be gutted if it turns out to be anyone else now. But if it's not to be then 2nd choice would be the newly mentioned Magath. Good history and as someone said earlier Fulham were a really dreadful outfit when he took over. Apart from that final game they were much improved in the little time he was there. I doubt any manager would have saved them.

If he stays at Fulham this coming season i see the coming straight back up as champions!

So for me it's Koeman first choice, a distant 2nd Magath. And not really interested in any of the others 'in the running'. Infact i would rather have Adkins back if we can't get my first 2 choices.

Still confident Ronald will become Saint Ronald but think the official announcement won't come until after the World Cup has kicked off to delay our want away stars chancing their agents and media buddies to try and force a move.
This will give Ronald some vital time to study videos etc of these players and decide on their futures without the pressure of the media as the board can simply refer to their previous statement

No of course not. And that is what excites me about having him here. None of our last 3 managers bought in were that either, and look how it went?

I think Pardew defines "safe pair of hands" for a L1 team. The point is that a lot of people have a mistaken conception about Koeman, he's certainly been called a "safe option" several times.

Yea looking at at that way he was. I was more looking at a safe option in the same way as risk free. Koeman isn't risk free. I think he would do very well but i do see his couple blips mentioned a lot and it doesn't seem like everyone see's him as a safe option.

pardew was safe in terms of it being a no-brainer if he was available and interested.

In terms of ability, he was a highly ambitious appointment.

adkins was an educated punt and poch was a risk.

koeman looks like a mix. ambitious appointment, trophy winner at several clubs, but not an unqualified success at the highest level, particularly outside NL.

Koeman justed tweet for the first time since his trip to Gleneagles. And... he's turned his location off.

Up until now you've been able to see his location on every tweet.

Well Pochettino hadn't had much success either did he?

i put pochettino as the biggest risk appointment we made in the post admin era. he'd had technically no success at all.

RK would be the most ambitious appointment in terms of managerial success that we have made in recent times, maybe ever. The fact he's not got an unblemished record is probably the reason why it's feasible.

It's all relative. No manager is ever "safe" but Koeman is less risky than Yakin.

The best safety net is a good owner, which we seem to have but way too many idiots fail to appreciate.
