Ronald Koeman: "I am thrilled to be the manager of Southampton Football Club. The opportunity to continue the development of this famous football club was simply too good to turn down. From my very first meeting with Les Reed, I could see clearly that this was the right club for me. We share the same philosophy of football, and the same belief in how to develop the club."

Just as I said a week or so ago ;)

really pleased with this appointment, and for me, shows a real statement of intent that we do want to push on. hope it can now convince Lallana, Shaw & Lovren

Confirmation, thank goodness for that. I can`t help but thinking he is an upgrade from MP. I wonder when he was first approached ?

I think so too. If we had Replaced Poch with Koeman in the same way Adkins was replaced. I would have probably seen it as a step up too. A manager who has won things as both a player and manager and who has got teams to the CL.

Well it means he was interviewed, that's something

How does someone claiming he winked at them on a golf course 400 miles away mean that?

The guy who caddied said 'he had a meeting with the director of Southampton last night.'

It's really amazing how indiscreet these football people are. Always giving this valuable information out to people they've only just met, to tweet to the world. Makes you wonder why we need journalists at all really...

Smug, smug, smug, smug, smug.

Ha, sorry, it's a nice story but you know.

:P x

Any ideas for a Koeman chant. It ought to remind Pompey that they got the wrong manager and we got the right one.
