I've thought for a while that we might get him and now I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's gonna sign.

The board need to show their worth and this shock signing could be it.

Get excited everyone, Quincy Promes will soon be a Saints!

"The Dutchman himself does not want to go to one of the worst clubs in the Premier League". That's savage :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Pretty much the crux of the whole deal in the first place though..

Haha I actually just laughed out loud in the office at that quote :D

If it is true then it is not massively surprising, was always a long shot that A) we would pay around £30m for him B) we would pay his salary and C) he would want to come to one of the ****test sides in the league

Got cross at first about that, but then realised it isn't a direct quote. And it is quite reasonable not to want to go to a club at the bottom of the league. However, if he isn't interested in helping us....time to move on.

I haven't seen Promes much since the u21 Euros but I do really like Ljajic, so if he is available cheaper then he could be an option. Doesn't really solve the pace issue though, like an upgraded Tadic

never underestimate the power of being a proven stepping stone in the most lucrative league in the world though eh?

Doesn't really work if you end up joining somewhere for 6 months and they go down though. Sure he would get a move to another top flight team because of his previous reputation but playing in a crap team could hinder him in the future/delay him getting a move to one of the elite clubs. By the sounds of it some of them are looking at him a little bit atm so probably in his best interests to wait for a safer/better opportunity.

If he doesn't get the fact that he'll be in the shop window for Liverpool he's been reading the wrong papers.

If it were purely the fee being an issue then I'd be disappointed. If he doesn't want it, then the last thing we need is a reluctant prima donna.
