Just seems sensible to me, no risk but high reward. It's one of the best decisions SR have made, although the bar for that is sadly buried firmly in the mud.
When he left, it was because he wanted to go back to Catalonia for personal reasons. We let it happen fairly easily as we owed it to him as such a great servant to our club. It's like he's seen the mess we're in and decided that he wants to come back to his second home to help sort it out. 25 league games for Girona last year ... he's probably still got the legs. I sure hope so.
Not particularly in a position we need and unsure how his legs are doing? Definitely sensible to bring a known leader who knows the club though. Possibly take the captaincy over from Stephens? Could well be worth it for impact on the terrible player culture at the club alone.
I don't care if he walks out onto the pitch on crutches, just to show the others what it means to play for our club.
Really? I'd say it's a position we need very much. Downes is as much use as a chocolate fireguard and Jander isn't really a proper DM.
Aside from a striker, I would say DM is the position where we do need cover. Charles is out for a couple of months, Downes is struggling for fitness/form and Jander is new to the league. With games coming thick and fast, it's the area where we need additional numbers. I'm working on the premise that Azaz, Aribo and Sesay are not really considerations for those roles (for anything more than a stop-gap)
Absolutely brilliant. I've been saying since August that we needed another CM. And for that person to be Romeu is excellent news.
Only just turned 34 and playing 30 odd games a season still. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s better than any other midfielder in the whole division.
