Presumably Celtic have no reason to reduce their asking price? I'm not aware that they need the money, or that the player has thrown his toys out the pram, or that his contract is ending? (I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.)

So in that case, either pay the asking price or move on. I really don't care which, because I've never seen him play and hence have no opinion on him (ignorance on my part, I accept). Only three weeks left now.
Agreed. I accept the club can't be silly with money but with these sort of high-profile (for Saints) signings that may attract interest from other clubs we need to move fast. Make our best offer and if it's accepted do the deal. Or move on.

Perhaps we have already done this, the offer has been rejected and we’ve moved on…

The fact we aren’t even being mentioned in most recent reports suggests we have. Or because of interest from much better teams no point even acknowledging our interest as he won’t be coming here

I think there might be more developments with this yet. The other day Russ said we've had to park some things because:

- It's too expensive/they're going elsewhere (Carvalho, Buonanotte)
- We can't afford to pay the fee the other club want right now

I am holding onto that second one being MO'R. Hopefully we get news of an ABK deal soon

Guess it depends how you read it. Does he mean can’t afford the fee right now because we are skint and we expect to be able to hit their asking price once players leave?

Or does he mean what the selling club is asking for right now is unachievable full stop and we hope they will come down in price towards the end of the window, his comment could be interpreted either way really

It looks certain he’ll be leaving Celtic, just a case of where. The bids being quoted by Atalanta are not unobtainable for us

Anyone not want him?

im on board with that. Replace a top goal scorer for an attacking midfielder with half the money. Recipe for disaster. We haven’t replaced Pelle, Ings etc and look what happened/is happening to us.

My feeling with Bompey is they think they are an established Premiership club. They are more established than us, but one dodgy half season from playing in the championship again.

If they were to buy for example MOR for in the region of £20-25m that would still leave them with £30-35m for a replacement striker. With £10m still to potentially come in on add ons from the Solanke sale. I’d say that’s a pretty good position to be in for Bournemouth.

They’ve just spent £10m on a right back aswell. No idea if the only money they have is the Solanke money or if that has just topped up their budget
