Exactly. My generation (I'm a bit younger than you, so substitute The Clash for The Who) were born in a time of peace and plenty. Opportunities were near enough limitless for those prepared to work for them, and there were always plenty of second chances for people like me who ****ed up a few times. Even the lowest paid jobs offered just about enough to live on, and there was enough social housing or cheap private rentals available to ensure that homelessness was not a realistic threat.
None of those things are true for today's youngsters, and no amount of cheap play stations will make up for what we had and what has been denied to them.
Mind you, when i was a kid there was no central heating and no double glazing - we froze half to death in winter. And the food was pretty crap, never saw a pizza or a curry til I was about 14. Nonetheless, my generation was charmed. Beats me how anyone of my age can fail to appreciate that.
... she used to eat a lot...
She looks like shes never eaten a lot anywhere!
