So DTLW said last night. When are they announcing it so we can all relax and hail him as the next best thing?
Yep. We just like to take our time announcing things. People seem to want to moan about nothing. We don't take longer then anyone else signing players. We just take oir time announcing it. We like to have a interview etc all done to post when the signing is announced, other teams don't.

Not sure on this Lambo...........The difference in generations is that todays generations demand more than we did as are their expectations. The thought of owning your own home was just a dream for us wartime children as they seemed to be well out of a average working mans grasp. We didn't have two wage packets coming in on average for the whole of our working lives. (My first weeks wages as a 15 year old Was £1.3 and 8 pence in old money as an apprentice)
We worked hard and scrimped and saved right from our first day at work and got there in good numbers. It is no different for todays youngsters it is just as hard and just as out of site. The difference is they demand the right to own the own home where as we didn't. They seem to not want to have to work hard and scrimp and save (not all I grant you) they mainly see their parents or grandparents as being the financiers for their deposits. With todays children staying home a bloody site longer than our generation. (The average today for leaving home is in their late 20's to early 30's) So I am surprised that they on average don't have a few bob behind them when they are ready to leave home!!
There is opportunity out for those that really look for it and go for it. Rather than wait for it to fall into their lap they just have to look and granted it is hard but it aint going to jump out at you or rarely does. You've gotta find it for yourself same as we did!!!!! Im not saying it is easy but it is do-able.........

Another issue, in the latter years, has been the easy access to credit, and the apparent lack of stigma attached to owing several thousands of pounds.
Obviously not everyone is the same, but there is a large proportion of people who run up debts, buying "must have" new cars/technology, then struggle to repay them and put money aside for deposits on houses, etc.

So very true............

I know that a 6 month is far and away the most sensible option but it would just typical if he were to flourish and decide to f*** off in the summer when we try to sign him on a longer contract <laugh> It would be good if we had a first option after 6 months, just in case he is the second coming!

Sorry, but you oldies on here speaking nonsense.

House prices have gone up at a staggering rate, meaning they are much more unaffordable to your average joe nowadays than they were to you.
The gap between average wage and average house prices has been on the rise for decades:

Sorry, but this patronising "we worked harder than you" which I see all the time, is simply nonsense. You had it easier, fact.

Ooooh, I can see this one running ...............

When I got my first home, we had 'hand me down' furniture, a 15-yr-old car, didn't have a holiday for 5 years, and our only treat was one drink in a pub on a Friday. And we were both scientists in well paid jobs. Had to be done to pay the mortgage and bills. Not all of them of course, but a lot of youngsters won't give up nights out, attending festivals, having latest gadgets, and holidays....then wonder why they have no savings. I think they'd be amazed if they added all those things up. You can have one thing or the other....your choice, but don't whinge about it.
And if you question them on it, they will reply;
'You have to live for the day, whats the point of living if you can't holiday ect.......'
I married one, and it does my head in!

......and there lies the problem.........We didn't work harder..........never said we did....... we just thought about things differently. If you compare a single wage in comparison then yes I would agree with statistics. two wages coming in though.........Shouldn't be so hard. However as per usual with younger generations they do not think we "oldies" know anything. I guess the next generation from them will be saying something similar....and so it goes on!!

I don't think we worked harder...just that we played less. People have a longer childhood now....getting bladdered in your late twenties and thirties is ridiculous. That's the sort of thing you used to grow out of in your early twenties. ....unless you were an alcoholic. And pop concerts (festivals) were for kids. Absolutely fine if you choose to enjoy your youth...makes a lot of sense, but don't criticise older people able to enjoy their retirement because they were buying homes and raising kids in their twenties. As I said, make your choice.

I think a lot of us feel the same. But as he is joining us at a fairly precarious time, if he does well then decides not to stay, I'll take that on the chin.
