I expect this one is about to happen. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...open-talks-Genk-deal-right-Joakim-Maehle.html Joakim Mæhle in, Cedric out. He's a 21-year-old right-back from Denmark, playing for Genk in Belgium's top flight and the Europa League. 6'1", fast and looks able to remain composed and deliver smart passes in the final third too. Seems like quite a high-octane right-back. He is reported as having a high work-rate towards both attacking and defending. Could be a smart (and relatively cheap) signing if Ralph believes he can develop him and help him adapt to English football. Apparently he has a release fee of around €11m. Looks like he has the makings of a good player from the snippets I've seen and heard so far. Seems to want to play on the front foot as an aggressive and forward-thinking full-back. DTLW
In before someone else dredges up his FIFA stats... (I'm not for a moment suggesting FIFA can tell us if he'll be a success or not, but I guess it can highlight some key areas and traits in his game - as I assume he's a relative unknown for nearly everyone here) His top 10 stats are... 89 sprint speed 88 stamina 87 acceleration 80 jumping 75 dribbling 74 tackling 73 crossing 73 strength 72 passing 71 ball control Current rating: 72/100 Potential rating: 84/100 And now I'm logging off and calling it a night.
Been pretty impressed with what i've seen of Valery and Ramsay so far, but I guess this would let Kayne develop more naturally maybe on loan or in the U23s. Plus this bloke can play in midfield too. #inralphwetrust
Bringing in a RB at this time does seem rather strange to me, it doesn’t seem to be a position we have a major problem with and won’t really help the spine of the team. A good quality CB would be my main target if we are only got the money for one player or a striker/winger as my second choice
Good stuff, this was a top priority for 3 at the back. At Chelsea away we had most our opportunities wasted because our wing backs failed to take advantage Cedric can’t cross, Valery shows willing, but as yet I don’t remember any serious effective forward play since his move into the team. There is a player in there, but he is playing with a bit of fear at the moment. Think he’ll benefit from this spell of football, but he will probably need a season of rotation to adapt to the pace of the league.
I'm guessing at "m-eye-hler" https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/70927/how-is-æ-supposed-to-be-pronounced
Something worth considering for everyone, but especially people who are perhaps struggling to understand this move. Cedric is 18 months from the end of his contract with no interest in renewing, and Ralph doesn’t fancy him either. He’s 27 and therefore now is pretty much the perfect time to cash in on him. Especially in January when the market could be inflated beyond the sort of fee we could command in the summer. Especially with the clock ticking on his time here.
