I have seen him play, but willing to give him a chance with us.

That doesn’t bode well then. Hardly an endorsement for £19 million spent. Considering he is our record signing nobody seems to be very excited. Guess it’s a sign of the times that that amount of money doesn’t buy a lot any more. Here’s fingers crossed

So you think we have played out this transfer well in not completing it till the last week of the window. (that's if we do indeed complete it) Surely there is a part of you that thinks this looks like a simple transfer and should have been completed earlier?

I was only quoting you. I have no idea how simple or complex it was or whether we paid more or less than we should have. That's really my point.
Maybe I shouldn't really go on a forum to say I have no knowledge or opinion <laugh>

But I know speak with in the knowledge that we have completed it YAY! :1980_boogie_down:
I wish it had been done on Jan 1st, of course

A lot of journos that cover the French league have said that Carrillo should be suited to the PL, especially being a focal point of the team. They think it's a good transfer for us so fingers crossed.

From his own description of his game, Guido seems exactly the type of player needed to compliment the team.
I have no idea of his level, his scoring record is decent, his goals on YouTube show a goalscoring instinct. Don’t be snobby about some of the goalkeeping and defending when seeing these goals. A Harry Kane compilation will have plenty of those types of goals(not just against ourselves).

Can't be worse than what we have already: so it's a trade-up. How much we paid for him is largely irrelevant; if he (realistically) scores 6-8 leagues goals before the season-end and we manage to stay up - job done.

Excited? Not alot. Waiting to be warmly surprised.

Heh, 6-8 league goals would be stunning; we only have 14 matches remaining. 3-4 is probably a good return at this point, given that probably doesn't start every match.

Unless he bags a brace on his full debut against Brighton making him impossible to drop <whistle>

****ing hell, I know the season's not been brilliant but there are some miserable, draining saints fans, particularly on Facebook!

I read a couple of comments on there and people were saying how he will be third choice behind Austin and Gabbi. How can you even possibly say or think that without him playing!? Morons everywhere - fans were the same (on the whole) with Bertrand, Lovren and Pelle to name a few and how'd that go?

Id much rather choose to listen to the opinions of French journalists or those who cover South American footballers - who both say he could be a very decent signing and exactly what we could be missing.

Ashbysaint, make your own judgement mate. We were all told that Pelle was just a lump. It’s horses for courses. He could be the right piece in our puzzle.

Exactly. I’d even say that he could turn us around and score zero goals. Let the stat kings unravel that one.

It will be about how he plays in our system, how we play with him and what he does for the other players.

Extreme example, but he could go far Post every time we get wide, drag opposing defenders out and create space for someone else to score. No touch. No assist. No goal. Big impact.

No, our fans will look back and just say he got no goal and no assist.
