A Feyenoord fan on Reddit comments on Pelle:

He was a great fit for Koeman's tactics at Feyenoord. One of the best players (strikers) of the Eredivisie of the last two years.

That said... He's a bit of a one trick pony. He's strong on the ball and has an eye for the goal, but that's about it. Personally, I don't really mind him being sold. We might miss the 20+ goals he can provide (although he failed to score at every other club before Feyenoord), but I'd rather see Feyenoord turn to a more dynamic and exciting style of play. We have the talent in midfield/attack (Vilhena, Boëtius, Clasie), but with Pelle leading the offense you're limiting yourself to a direct and more archaic style of play.

The "dumb"/passionate (take your pick) segment of the Legioen is going to miss him. I'm grateful for his services, his goals and the millions he's going to bring into the coffer.

But honestly? I predict he's going to fail in the EPL, especially at the level Southampton aspires to. He's just not good enough.

Hmm I think I have come to the conclusion Joe doesn't rate Pelle. I don't know what has given me that idea tho....

Were these the comments of a Bristol Rovers' fan when we signed that useless great lump - whatsisname? Lambert, that was the one! We all knew he'd never make it in the Championship, let alone the Prem.

It would be possible to get mixed reviews on virtually every player in most teams. He even covers himself with a dig at dumb/passionate fans who rate Pelle...thus proving that other fans do rate him. If Pelle comes here, he becomes a Saints player and I'm prepared to give him a chance. He scored a lot of goals last season and who cares if it was a 'lower' league...most of Rickie's goals weren't in the EPL. We need a couple of strikers, so I'm not going to complain if our new manager signs a proven goal scorer.

Hate to bring up Van Wolfswinkel, but it's a good comparison. I was right about him last summer as well, by the way.

That's fair enough, but we're only going to sign one or two strikers and naturally I'd rather they were strikers I'm confident about.
