And some reports saying it has stalled, some saying it is going well. Basically they all know jack ****, so making stuff up.

I'm sure Cortese must know someone in Italy who will be able to get close, or knows someone who in turn knows someone who will be able to get close to the Bologna side of things. Whether the press saying it is off/stalling are stories which have legs or not, for example. Cortese is a smart man, and I think he knows what it takes to get things sorted.

Yeah i think he will get it sorted, the Bolgna president I feel is just trying to make Cortese squirm and get his own way. As I say i think he will stand his ground and at the final moment both parties will come to a comprimise. Like you say, he is a smart man, I dare say that Cortese can get closer to what bologna want but will move at the right time, i.e. at a time when bologna will then have to accept and comprimise rather than give them time to either move the goal posts or say forget it. This will happen, but nearer deadline day.

For this next exercise, please list all of the sources who are reporting on this deal, under the following headers.

Sources saying the deal looks likely

Sources saying the deal has stalled

Sources saying the deal is off

Nicko has been pretty much on the ball regarding us so far.

He got hold of the Clyne story nice and early, and also followed the Jay Rodriguez one through to it's conclusion. I believe he also mentioned we were looking at Davis, long before he signed.

So he obviously has contacts close to Southampton, some how. He seems to know what's going on and on this particular deal, he has said that from ''our side'' we are certain it will happen. So we'll have to wait and see.

Alan Nixon, forum members pass the football and S-Clarke

Sources saying the deal has stalled
The Bologna president, Alessandro Mossini, Gustavo, The Metro

Sources saying the deal is off
Gazzetta, Ansa Italia, Goal

It's difficult though. A lot of the "stalled" ones are saying "yeah it's pretty much off but nothing is impossible, you never know!"

Spurs & Man City took all summer to get the Adebayor switch completed.
These negotiators need to show they're doing a vital job.

10 days for a play maker/winger and two insanely quick centre backs to sign up.

That doesn't look very good.

That doesn't look very good.

When you put it like that, no it doesn't. There may be more sources, those are just the ones I can think of.

But then the most important source, the Bologna president, is in the "stalled" pile though his statement of "Some stories are never over" isn't too "yeah it could still happen", it's more "ehhh... maybe, I guess"

Well if you have me down as a 'source' we're all in trouble!

But let's face it, these sources are generally pretty unimportant. If you have 200 sources saying the earth is flat it doesn't make it so. All I would really say is look at the facts and make your own minds up.

I have been watching this thread sometimes with amusement, sometimes disappointment, sometimes with excitement - but always with incredulity as I don't know anything about Gaston Ramirez. Is he really that good as reckon Pulis could make himself look half useful on YouTube?

What I don't understand is if he is that good why aren't other clubs in there. The deal with spurs fell through because Spurs weren't prepared to pay him enough and Liverpool have gone elsewhere.

To be honest I am not sure I like the sound of his reasons to come here. If we don't get him I believe things happen for a reason
