Your maths must be of primary school standard. We have a wage structure in place at Saints, he will be getting 30k a week max. 2mill divided by 52 is 38,461 so he will be earning around 38,500 euros a week.

Earlier, I made it about £33k/wk so not far out. Remember that our players probably had an automatic pay rise when promoted, so doubt the top players are far off that.

Foreign players always talk net not gross. He gets EUR2 mill a year after 50% tax and National insurance. He's on over 80k a week.

I am not trying to wind any of you up, I'm sure he'll be great and he is an amazing player but he isn't coming over for 33k a week gross. Not on your life.

A italian ESPN agent has said Gaston will get the number 10 shirt and be on 2.5m a year. On a 4 year deal.

Also (I am a stuck record on this) the contracts are made up of fees, clauses, instalments, bonuses etc so the headline figure does not mean too much. If anyone thinks Nicola is gonna start paying double our current highest wages then guess again. Maybe it just makes Liverpool fans feel better :D

No he's not. Even if that figures right that's what he would be getting without tax and national insurance. As this country's got both he won't see even half that figure.

Dear me…

I feel sorry for you if you're really this stupid

OK

Net = Pay after deductions.
Gross = Pay before deductions.

Man says he is on EUR2 million a year. Net.

£4 million a year Gross = £76k per week gross.

Minus 50% Tax – 38k
Minus NI – £2k

= £ 36k per week NET.

So… like I said, he’s on more than £80k a week.

Being called stupid by people who can’t fathom their payslip is an interesting experience.

50% tax doesn't mean double. And there's no assurances he'll be paying 50% tax either, I'm fairly sure there's loopholes.
