EUR2 Million a year NET? Thats not gross. He's on GBP80k a week before deductions. That is a lot of money and I'd imagine more than others were willing to offer.

It's just my summation of the article. Also, imo 90% of football fans are idiots, so i'm not going to listen to their opinion. It's also not helped by the current hype that attaches to every player that gets linked, who immediately becomes 'Totes the best player evs like' or the person who will turn around a side.

If you wthed the Olympic football at all, you probably saw him. He was the only player to turn up in a star studded, but remarkably poor Uruguayan side. He scored a very nice free kick against the UAE and smashed the crossbar against GB. I don't have Sky, so see very little foreign football, but the glimpses from the Olympics really excite me.

It's actually more than £80k. He gets EUR2 million a year NET. After deductions, i.e. Income Tax and NI.
Over £150k a year he's paying 50% tax as well as NI.

It's a massive wage.

Your maths must be of primary school standard. We have a wage structure in place at Saints, he will be getting 30k a week max. 2mill divided by 52 is 38,461 so he will be earning around 38,500 euros a week.

Where on earth did £80k come from? We'd be totally obliterating our wage structure if we did that. Might you be confusing wages with what we're giving him on one off payments?
