He's not going to be on huge wages, it seems a lot to him because his wages at Bologna were small.

True, plus for him it'll be a nice sentiment that a club now appreciates what a good player he is/(seems to be) and has backed it up with wages he deserves.

Think there maybe a large amount of cash in a top quality, Italian, beige envelope though to go with the wage.

Bloody hell he's honest! : ""It is an offer that you cannot refuse. They will give me so much money (€2 million net per year and more than €1 million signing-on fee)." :O

2 million euros equates to around £30k per week, so not too crazy. I believe we pay out a fair bit in incentives rather than basic wages to maintain precedents for incoming players. It's wages rather than one off payments that are the real financial killer. Great deal Saints and well done Cortese!

IF is true, I get the feeling that him and Ricky will get on like a house on fire; after all, he's from a place called Fray Bentos... who ate all the pies, who ate the pies?! :D

"Who made all the pies, Who made all the pies, Saint Ramirez, Saint Ramirez, he made all the pies"!!

Firstly, I believe nothing until it's on the OS. All the article on Sky (dubious in my opinion) says is we've agreed a deal with Bologna. If Spurs and Liverpool ARE interested, this could be when they move.

Secondly, who is this guy (seriously, not knocking him, but i'd never heard of him until a few days ago), and don't reply with a you tube video. Also why isn't he a centre back?

One of the best young players in europe... dubbed the Uruguayan kaka? The article on sky has direct quotes from the player himself which is usually a good sign. Why not watch a video of him it gives you a taste of his style but obviously not the full picture.

I read the article DTLW helpfully posted. Sounds like most of what we are (allegedly) paying for is very good potential. The article paints a picture of somebody who can flit in and out of games, may be unsure about his best position and has a languid style that may not fit into the English style. However, he could be that luxury player who could do something special in a game and create a goal.

That's a rather pessimistic view! If you want to be reassured go read some other teams boards, Kumb spurs and liverpool. Before they knew we were in for him they were VERY complimentary about him. (I put kumb in because it's funny watching them squabble).

Been a season ticket holder since 1994 (not around when Keegan signed) but I've never seen anything like this. Wow wow wow wow wow!!!! What Cortese wants...Cortese gets

I was around when Sainst signed Keegan and I have to say that I am as stunned now as I was then....
