Yes, I am well aware of that, but the Italian bank is looking for guarantees that money will be forthcoming from a football club. Ultimately, Saints are providing that money, so ultimately, the bank is looking to make sure Saints have the funds.

Yeah I guess you could say that. The bank really only cares about Bologna, but the only way Bologna can prove they will get the money though is by showing we have the funds.

Whether they get their loan or not though, I'm still confident the deal will happen.

The Italian bank looked at a map to see where Southampton was and saw that it was close to Portsmouth and immediately the warning lights started flashing. What a lot of people don't realise is a bad debtor with a very poor credit rating can reduce the credit rating for all the neighbourhood.

I realise you have your tongue planted in your cheek StG, but indeed it often happens that way. I suspect Cortese is a bloke who the Bologna bank knows very well indeed though, by reputation, if not personally, so he'll overcome any of those problems. ;)

This deal has more twists than a helter skelter. I'd never be able to cope in a boardroom for two days discussing all kinds of bullshit about loans and installments. I would just be throwing money at them screaming "PLEASE JUST LET US HAVE HIM I'M DESPERATE! YOU WANT ANOTHER MILLION? TAKE TWO JUST PLEASE I WANT HIM SO BADLY!".

Probably why I didn't take up a career in finance...

In the days before Twitter, none of this would have happened, we'd all just be speculating on a football rumour. Now players, agents, clubs, journalists, banks? all tweet stuff about transfers/deals before anything is formalised/agreed/signed. In some ways great, in others even more infuriating

I do agree, certainly the internet as a whole. Some of the news articles published seem to come off the back if 'ITK' people on Twitter. Even 10 years ago you would have read about it in the paper when the rumour first came about and then you would have seen the paper article confirming it or never heard of it again. Now every twist and turn (true and false) is being published by people no more 'ITK' than you and I.
