Tim Vickery just been on 5 Live talking about Ramirez. Interestingly mentions that Saints had a bid for Gonzalo Bueno turned down last week - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzalo_Bueno. Basically all the normal stuff being said, good player, Saints need defenders, that other bloke bitching about work permits.

Listening to Radio 5 and South American expert, Phil/Tim Vickery reckons the stand out transfer is Ramirez, and he wonders how he'll go, because he says that the PL is so fast, Ramirez might struggle for pace. Not in this Saints side, Phil. ;)

Colin Murray has said that he thinks Ramirez to Saints is the most refreshing transfer because he could have gone to Liverpool or Others, but he went to Saints. Spreading the quality, so to speak. So good for Colin in that thought - a proper neutral and football fan.

EDIT: QWERTY, that other bloke is David Pleat. ;)

Said much the same tonight and questioned whether we would need to wait for a permit. They think he has only played a couple of times for his country.

Typical BBC can't be bothered to check anything but quite prepared to spout tosh.

Good post - Especially after all the hype I do hope he comes off for the Saints. Fingers crossed. Might also take time to get up to speed, something I feel we won't have a lot of in what is going to be a difficult first season back in the prem.

Slight downer on the BBC, I feel SFCBAG, as they didn't say anything of the kind. David Pleat gave his opinion that Saints may require a work permit for Ramirez [I would suggest that issue is covered after the protracted length of the signing], so not a BBC failing, but perhaps an independent David Pleat's own. And they weren't spouting tosh either. To spout tosh would be decidedly un-typical of the BBC. After all, they have no political/capitalist/sponsor axe to grind**.

    **Unlike every other single broadcaster.

Wonder if he has any English, because I don't think anyone in our squad speaks Spanish do they? Certainly not as a first language anyway. Not sure I like the idea of relying on Guly's Italian to translate!

Edit: forgot about Gazzaniga. That's it though.

Did Gaston actually come over here...because unlike other teams signings there was no sight of him. They said on OS it was sorted 10 days ago, so perhaps he wasn't required here. Really just bumping this out of sentiment.

It actually isn't. I thought it was but my sister is studying Spanish or her degree and she has to learn Portugese as part of it. Portugese is very different from Spanish.

Don't tell that to the Portugese.

I travelled from Spain into Portugal one year and resorted to my limited Spanish to get by and was quickly put in my place.

After that I picked up some portugese phrases and relied on gestures and English spoken very loudly!
