What an amazing signing... kind of emotional! I went to my first game since I was 6 (we lost to Sheffield Wednesday at the Dell) and since then Southampton have pretty much been awful and on the verge of relegation, brief period of relative success in the early 2000's, before plummeting down the leagues. Now we're back in the top tier and have signed what is really a world class player. Kind of never thought this would happen a few years back. Hope he isn't rubbish now!
You've probably all read this but hey: Italian football expert James Horncastle on Southampton signing Gaston Ramirez: "Negotiations have been complicated on account of the number of parties said to be claiming a stake in the player and the reported entitlement of former club Peñarol to a percentage of the transfer fee. "Everything has now been resolved. It's a considerable coup for Southampton considering Liverpool and Manchester City were said to be interested at one stage, as were Juventus and Inter Milan. The 21-year-old Uruguay international is a winger capable of playing behind the strikers. He lacks consistency, sure, but there's absolutely no doubting his potential. On some days his dribbling and other creative talents are worth the ticket price alone." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19439559 Also Radio 5 Live webcam to the end of the window if you are so inclined.
