If hypochondriac's WUMming, then you may as well consider me a WUM because I am probably even more worried than him!

Who's your favourite Saints player of all time?

Well as someone who grew up lat 80s and 90s there is no one else but Le Tiss. I used to live almost next to the Dell in Thornbury avenue so could hear the roar when we scored from my back garden. Loved Pahars for his wizardry and in recent times I have a soft spot for fonte after the Brighton celebration.

Hi all. Just wondered if anyone on here is as worried as I am about this summer. Millions made in player sales, millions more in TV income and now we are bringing in a load of loans of dubious quality. Everything seems short term and until we see evidence to the contrary, we must assume we are up for sale surely?

I don't think it indicates a sale but I agree that some of the names we are being linked with don't seem to be top notch. Also, loans should be a last resort. If they play badly, they are gone but if they play well and we want to buy them we are simply bumping the eventual fee.

New posters don't normally jump in with both feet the way Hypo has, it just seems a bit suspicious to my cynical mind. What do you other guys think?

Why does that post make him a WUM? More than one person has been arguing strongly that we are up for sale. One 'respected' member, very strongly.

Ha. A poster who posts a similar theory to what I've been saying and he's branded a "WUM". Goes to show how I'd have been received if I were a new poster!

I think he might be genuinely ill

This response was funny though.

Woo I'm respected! (Better be me)

I tend to think he is just your typical modern day know it all plastic.

We are linked to 2 loans, that isn't 'a load of loans'.

We are linked to several big name big money signings, however it may not be that easy to get these deals done.

TBH if we can't get who we want in on perms and we need players I would rather have quality loans in, then in January try again, and then try again next summer. No point in just panic buying big money signings that don't fit just to appease the plastics and bedwetters.

Again that's a bit insulting. I'm hardly plastic considering I had a season ticket when we stayed up last day against Sheffield United and then the next season when we lost to such luminaries as Plymouth. Not that glamorous! I do think 3 loans is quite a lot especially as we have got little else in. We have been linked with a lot of players but need to get some quality over the line to make me less concerned.

Apologies, Hypo, looks like I made a mistake about you. I accept your opinion as a genuine one, and until we actually get some decent signings in, your view is as likely to be correct as anyone's. All the best and welcome to the forum!

Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, there is a danger in believing that if something is repeated enough it becomes true...applies to new signings and events at the club. We tend to remember the things that are proven to be true and conveniently forget those subsequently disproved. I'm not leaping up and down with happiness at the moment, but neither do I see disaster/deceit round every corner. This is a wait and see time...with fingers crossed.

on the being sold tangent, in my boring thread i only found out after I started that the new company secretary counts mergers and acquisitions among her three areas of practice. make of that what you will.

on the schelotto topic, still not keen. even less so with samaras linked. will we be able to tell them apart?

I think there's a balance here...On the 1 hand we've lost some of our best players, on t'other we've got 2 good'uns in. The issue that I think worries most of us (and surely nobody here can say there's no worry; uncertainty and change naturally breeds concern), is the lack of strategy which seems to be summing up our board at the moment. Let me give a few examples:

1) The decisions to keep J-rod and Morgan (and go public) were made, essentially on a whim. This shows how unfixed our "strategy" is. It also shows flexibility but I think we need structure and authority at the moment.
2) We've known for a long time that Shaw was going and J-rod was out for a while. Why didn't we make moves to replace them before we raked in the income?
3) Why is it taking us so bloody long to get deals over the line? And why this obsession with bloody loans!

Now to balance that out, I believe the following:

1) Tadic will be a great signing
2) Pellè is a good replacement for Lambert and probably as like-for-like as we could hope for.
3) There's still time left to make signings (although I believe the later we leave it, the more likely prices are to hike as we reek more and more of desperation).
4) It looks like Koeman's in this properly and knew what was coming.

Does that about cover it?

My favourite is Le Tiss for obvious reasons.

2nd favourite Jimmy Case because he was a proper footballer, no messing about. Good passing and no holds barred tackles.

Favourite player? Tiss was the most talented player in all the time that I have supported Saints and there have been many others I have admired for different skills, but SRL is the only one I have felt an emotional connection with. I love his story, talent and personality. And who could forget his goal against Scotland. :emoticon-0115-inlov
