Banega is definitely world class Apart from Xavi and Iniesta he is the best creative midfielder in La Liga and as good as any in the Premiership. I do find it hard to believe that he will sign for us as he is good enough to play for anyone, hence why he is on Barcelonas short list to replace Thiago. The only reason more teams are not in for him and the price is so low, is because he has a reputation as a bit of a pain. Stories of turning up to training drunk and the more famous, Ferrari on fire and running his own foot over.
I'm not convinced. If the transfer was imminent, then sure, but remember Celtic were going to include Wanyama in their team before a late withdrawal, and he travelled to join us the very next day! Even if we do sign Banega, it's unlikely to go through in the next few days and as I said with the Wanyama case, until a transfer is concluded, Valencia have to prepare for the eventuality that he stays. They need to get him fit before the season starts, and people rarely get injured in relatively low-intensity pre-season friendlies. I don't see why they would leave him out unless he was definitely off.
Seems we might have been in some kind of talks for a few weeks already so this one certainly won't be the first!
I'm not, if you take out all the sources if etc. The biggest telling thing is SKY and the other betting shops are not even putting Banega to Southampton up on their sites. That by itself must tell people something, bookies are all too ready to milk people of mokey but won't risk it themselves. I can still see it happening but just not this week.
Yep that's what I have heard as well, I think it's more of he wants to see our ambition then the wages etc we have offered are too low.
Have you thought maybe its the other way around and that the bookies have just missed it and they dont think its worth putting it In the market? It does happen?
Nope I contacted SKY and they told me they won't be putting it on. Same with Ladbrokes when I put a bet on I got 20-1(somehow) but when my mate tried it they said they wouldn't be putting it on as they think it's basically seen as being done.
Not saying it won't happen, but I think you're definitely kidding yourself in your reasoning. Why wouldn't they just offer seriously short odds in that case, like they are doing with way more likely outcomes that they have listed? You can't seriously believe Benteke to leave Villa (let along Rooney to leave, Fellaini to leave, Lewandowski to leave, and Bily Sharp to leave) is less likely than Banega to Southampton?? They - and countless other near-certainties - all have a plethora of prices. Again, not saying it is more or less likely than before, but don't kid yourself that it is because it's such a banker...
Look at the players you have mentioned a hell of a lot of clubs have been linked to them. Hence people will put bets on different teams, which will make the betting company get their money back with ease. But with Banega (the way I see it) is he has only been linked with us so SKY etc see themself taking a hit so think there's no point on putting the bet on.
What are the odds for Banega to stay at his current club this season? This could be our biggest signing to date reputation wise so maybe we are dragging it out for PR? Only helps to increase our clubs profile world wide!
Guys I have proof that beefy is absolutely true to his word. I wanted to see if I could get in on his wager with skybet and also couldn't find it anywhere. I chatted with them online, please see response!
There are no odds anywhere, I managed to get 20-1 for him to join us. But I put that down to luck and asking at a independent Ladbrokes.
You won't get odds where there's only one club in the running otherwise the bookies are risking their own money. When there's four or five then the bookies are going to win whatever happens, and that's how they make money.
i have a scrren shot of a chat me and skybet just had backing everything beefy said about them bnot taking bets, they say they are pretty sure its a done deal!
