OK, I'm getting excited about him now. Also, Spors is using his excellent knowledge of German football here so I more than trust his judgement.

 

Anyone want to take a guess (or happens to know) which club with a reputation for unearthing gems now has Tzimas (the other player mentioned here)

I think this confirms that Still saw Fernandes as an 8 (or box to box) midfielder. I think he is too, instead of an actual out and out attacking mid. Just doing a little bit of research on him and it's all been nothing but praise. Fingers crossed!

 

Or maybe it's a signing straight out of the SR mould of buying young and cheap and hoping for the best.

 

He's very, very, very highly rated in Germany. Most supporters amazed he's coming to us and not one of the big Bundesliga teams, so...

But this one is the Bundesliga equivalent of Fellows or Azaz. The others (Downs, Quarshie) were potential, this guy is already doing it.

 

(Much like Matty was in Portugal when we signed him, basically).

 

Weird that people would be delighted if we were signing an England U21 midfielder, but are worrying that we're signing a German U21 midfielder!

 

Well because it's not based on that. It'll be because one already plays in and is proven in the league we are in. Whereas the other is from the 2nd division in Germany so we don't know how he'd adjust to the league. Suggests he's much less ready to step straight into the team.

 

The fact he's a German U21 international would tend to suggest he should be fine.

 

Or worried we're signing another German 2nd division player when our first two aren't exactly pulling up trees.

Look, I get this is not606 and therefore everything that SR do is great, but this is an absolutely ****ing awful window. We've unsurprisingly sold our 2 best players for fees way below what we publicly stated was our asking price and once again buy hidden gems who 99% of the time turn out to be pyrite.
