the increase in transfer value has nothing to do with astute signings but everything to do with the increase in tv money - brilliant signings are the free for Geovanni and the loan of Frazier Campbell - Pearson should take the credit for Brady - I agree with Diame but I wouldn't call the rest brilliant and as for Jelavic being our best striker ever, I think you need to get a grip

How should he? He didnt sign him.

And who's a better striker in our entire history than Jelavic? Cue a long list of players who played for us outside the top division and have a handful of international caps between them and never appeared at a major tournament for a good international team.....

Fair point. OK, Jelavic is our second best striker ever...

Oh wait I forgot Deano, Waggy, Chillo, Rambo Billy, David Brown, Duane Darby, Danny Allsopp, BBB, Jon Parkin, Kevin Francis etc, etc

So Jelavic is in the top 10 of our best strikers ever.....

edit - ah **** Andy Payton, Keith Edwards and Rodney Rowe <doh>

Sagbo's out of his depth. He knows it, everyone else knows it.

Ship him out for cost. We need to get someone else in regardless. We don't look like scoring with or without our two first choice forwards.

Our main rivals are signing attacking options.

We need a fresh face up top.

What division were we in when Pearson played for us? How old were Revie and Mortensen when they played for us and in what division? We're not talking about what they did before or after they were with us, we're talking about what they did when they played for us. Jelavic is a good quality international striker with a good top flight pedigree in his prime at the time that he is playing with us.

Using your logic Billy Bremner, Emlyn Hughes or JJ Okocha are probably our best ever players.

you're the one who said he was our best attacker ever - if someone is too good for us and signs for a bigger team and gets capped why does that exclude them - we've had many players better than Jelavic, Raich Carter for example - I rate Jelavic but he certainly isn't the best ever

At the time he played for us Pearson was not as good as Jelavic is.

As Ben Arfa has been prevented from playing for Nice this season because he has played for 2 teams already Newcastle and us, then Sagbo can't leave us and play in France as he has played for us and Wolves

Shall we now be glad that he joined Wolves in September and not August? 2 club rule doesn't include emergency loans.
As OLM has missed the opportunity to steal my regular line on this thread. Emergency loans don't count.

Sagbo only joined Wolves at the back end of September. As that's outside the main transfer window his loan can only have been an emergency loan, which as we're pretty much the only country in the world to still have them and they can't be used by top flight clubs to sign a player FIFA doesn't recognise them as counting towards the maximum clubs rule. I'm sure they're shutting them down in the next few seasons so that they can only be used in a genuine emergency rather than as a way to bypass the transfer rules.

I'm sure he'd be feeling a lot more settled it he was playing well and scoring. Fact is he's done **** all this season and seems to have given up even trying to come good.

You've hit the nail on the head, against Arsenal he did absolutely nothing, no effort, no closing down, he could barely hold the ball up, which is usually the one thing he can get right. He wants out, let him go. Because if he isn't even going to put a shift in and work hard for this club then he can **** off, the amount of people that would love to be in his position and would bust a gut just to impress, especially against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Can we sack him for being unfit?! :emoticon-0136-giggl

Jelavic is as good a striker as any I've seen for us, hard to measure players from different eras as football has changed so much
