Rail seating is a total **** up/get out of an idea.
You either have rail standing (one rail between each row to prevent crushing) or seating.
What is the point of having a seat when everyone in front of you is stood up? People like me with a ****ed hip would love to stand but are restricted to seats, don't cause problems between able bodied supporters and others that wish they were.

If it was in use properly then the seats would would be locked up so they couldn't be sat on during the game. Why would you buy a ticket in a standing area if you want to sit?

What you've described is basically what happens now. Once it's implemented in reasonable numbers you would be able to buy a seated ticket knowing you can sit

It's so that you can use the seats for games that don't allow safe standing.
This is how it's been implemented at Spurs:

Plenty of room when they're not in use and they're supposed to lock in place, I think.
There hasn't been an event for them yet, as far as I know. That section basically stands anyway.

why? In Germany the Yellow wall goes from 14000 seats to 25000 or so with no issues.

I think you are assigned a zone to stand in Iirc

Just my personal view on safety. Also on clubs using it to profit.
