For me it's the principle of this law only applying to football fans, and the wider way in which football fans are treated as criminals by default, while most of society is so unaware of it, that bothers me. I don't even like beer but I certainly hope it changes.
Agree with every word, but I am a Hull City fan so therefore I will look for the negative in even the most positive news.
To be fair unless they put serving staff in the toilets, or you are happy with people pissing against the bar in the concourse you really should do the two things at different times!
I'm straying deep into whiny **** territory here, but its one of the bugbears I have about seated gigs and other sports like cricket is people just getting up to get a drink or go to the bog like they're sat at home in front of the telly and not having to disturb a dozen other people (and the people behind) each time they move. The only people I don't mentally tut at are little kids, because lets face it they give you no notice that they want to go and they usually need to go NOW when they tell you.
Great idea in principle, but how do you propose to deal with the resulting consequence of beer consumption?
urinals (or she wee docking points) built into the safe standing barriers and piped to one big toilet just need to be creative...
If If we're going down the creative route then I'll add a speaker system where you can actually understand what is being said, graphics on the big screen that weren't designed by an 8-year old and follow standard guidelines on readability for names of players, stewards that actually pay attention to the crowd rather than watch the match and sufficient bar staff to cope with half-time (and just for you, understand the different types of beer). All equally likely to happen.
Congratulations... You have been successful in your application for the role of Hull City AFC Creative Director
Is there any evidence that people stay away from games these days because they have to sit down? Just wondering?
The Government has approved plans for football clubs to apply to introduce safe standing areas following a successful trial by some clubs last season.
Not sure they technically can block it. They may (!) raise issues at SAG, but it’s the SMC that carry the risk if it’s a bad decision as SAG is advisory (even in the title) and the Local Authority that can issue the safety certificate.
25,000 stand behind the goal at Dortmund with no problems but it will be deemed unsafe for 2,000 to do it in the MKM.
