Yeah, the most we've had for a home game this season's 85,000-odd. Very disappointing.

How much for Pickford, by the way? Looks a great prospect and we might need back-up for Lloris next season.

I assume the OP was intoxicated when he posted this, so will not be harsh
(the links to the Sunderland and Spurs forums are quite close together on
the not606 PL page - so an easy mistake to make I guess in that state) .

    I don't recommend trying to get 43,000 fans into a 36,000-seat stadium...

Next time you pop by Monty, can you bring Defoe back?

    Thanks

Taking aside the weak wum effort, I can think of a couple of "big" English clubs who would get nowhere near 43000 if they were 10 points adrift.

Personally I will be sorry to see Sunderland go down. In my experiences of going to both Roker Park and the SOL, they are candidates for being the friendliest fans in the PL.

Not much of a swap for Newcastle, for me. Sunderland and Boro for that? Pass.
Benitez being back's a plus, though. Decent manager and he makes a total balls up of mind games, so he has comedy value, too! <laugh>

    Sunderland's problem is their owner.
Most owners with that fan base would see a huge opportunity for substantial returns if they invested wisely and got them challenging for European places. They are as well supported as Chelsea.

I think that they need a whole new approach, which going down might allow them to implement.
There's no overall strategy for progress, as far as I can see.
Their signings seem completely erratic, even before Moyes' Everton and Man Utd reject grab.
