IF it was Roker Park being renamed I would have concerns and it would come down to what it was actually renamed to, whether I was angry or just upset. I have always hated the name the Stadium of Light! FFS it was another teams, ground name anyway. Wouldn't bother me in the least to see the SOL renamed, the bonus is we lose the **** name and get paid to use another **** name. Win win for me.
Agreed. Always thought it was a daft name. Unoriginal & meaningless to the area. Take the money. Strengthen the team.
I'd name my first born pepsi, coca cola or Microsoft if it made me a few million. Have no problem with it. Wouldn't call them Gerald mind.
Never been to keen on the name either. Hated it at first now having lived away for many years it's just home to me. Not sure how you can say the name is "meaningless to the area" when it's a tribute to the many men who worked and died on the very spot you park your arse every fortnight.
I love the name Stadium of light, it sounds epic and sets it apart from other generic sounding grounds. Im all for naming rights tho aslong as its not a crap name. Id also like the Stadium of Light to remain in the name ie The Samsung Stadium of Light
Couldn't care less about changing the stadium name. I've never been blown away by the SoL name anyway. As long as it doesn't get re-named something embarrassing. Ann Summers Big Rubber Dildo Arena or anything connected to Sports Direct spring to mind.
The "tits Magee stadium" would do me for a hefty lump indeed I'm thinking about selling the naming rights to my house. Any offers???
