Good question. My way is always to say a week in advance "Do you mind if I go to the match at the weekend" therefore so doesnt plan anything. Anyway she works most saturdays niw so by the time she gets home she wouldn't even know if id been or not.
SAFC first - Most times! Divorced twice. Third wife now. Stopped worrying about what the other (better) half of the species think. If there's a game on, she knows I'll be watching it, one way or another. Difference is, I was more honest about me this time round and I made clear what's important to me than I probably did first time round, and because of that we both know where the boundaries are. And when she wants to do/see/have something I'm more accommodating as well. It's all about give and take. Took me 30 ****ing years of trying before I got the rules though.
