Who would have been ? - he's a positive breath of fresh air we need plus he's not coming here on the back of a sacking or failure and knows the championship. Yes, he's not a well known big name but we have not had real success with so called well rated managers who Short has financed. I hope we stop feeling a bit underwhelmed soon but in the meantime we'll let him know Sunderland supporters are all behind him
Funny how many were calling for inexperience stating the tried and tested had failed. Grayson been about ages, loads of experience and everyone is fine with it. Glad he's being welcomed though as we needed experience for this period imo. Just shows though how worn down we've been for another summer over managers. I remember everyone accepting Moyes with open arms too despite wanting different. Are we all just relieved the search is finally over like last season? I mean, Grayson has been in among the betting since Moyes quit and nobody was pushing him as a candidate.
Don't know, I wanted an experienced candidate so pretty happy with what we've got so not really in a position to answer. As I suggested could be all round relief it's sorted? Don't know, that's why I'm wondering. Just something tells me if we'd hired Grayson a week after Moyes went there would have been murders.
I think we've had a mixture personally. Experienced and inexperienced managers, we've tried them both. We need a manager to suit the club, first and foremost, imo. I'm relieved the search is over, we had to bring it to an end and start getting ready for the Championship. He was in no way my first choice, I wanted to go foreign.
I think in the wake of the disappointment about the failed takeover the fact that we got a half decent manager in quick smart put ointment on the wound. After the dust settled it seems he's at the least a solid appointment and might actually be pretty good.
I've always felt we've had a mixture too, it's why I've always found such comments strange. I mean Poyet and PDC were 1 club managers. Must say I liked the idea of a German set up like. We wouldn't have spent much, certainly at first but god knows we'd have a well oiled machine on all levels of the club.
That's a very good answer. It probably best exemplifies the concerns we all have, about a manager that none of us probably, honestly, didn't really want, but who, given the circumstances, just might well be the solution to the underlying problems at the club.
One of my best mates is a PNE fan and reckons that Grayson has been great working on a limited budget but also said that he can set the team up a bit negatively. He was well pissed off that we poached their manager. From what I've seen and heard so far I am happy with the appointment. Time will tell...
The underlying problems at the club for me are debt and turnover. That's nowt Grayson can help with. What I wanted was an experienced sea captain that get us through the rough seas which is our financial situation. He should keep us right while Short sorts it. Mind you, still an impossible on no budget and a very difficult one on a low budget. Hope us fans keep behind him through this period of restraints. Tough job he's taken on. Probably the hardest managerial job in England at the moment imo.
Dinnet man Disc, you'll set Comm off. I live out in the sticks. It's all countryside around here. Like something out of Deliverance. We even have the guns but most of them are 12 bores. Us hillbillies.
Obviously i'm talking consensus, clearly I don't mean every single Sunderland fan on the planet. I haven't read the views of every Sunderland fan on the planet you div.
